Did you know Dido’s real name is Florian de Cloud Bounevaille Armstrong?

You didn't say you're sorry

I don't understand
You don't care that you hurt me
And now I'm half the man
That I used to be when it was you and me
You didn't love me enough
My heart may never mend
And you'll never get to love me
Again

- Justin Timberlake’s "Never Again" -

I had fun last Sunday y’all...All three of you. *grins* Even tho it was only for a short while, but it brought back memories of how I used to hang out for short periods of time, trading gossips or just chatting with the three of you, either individually, or ramai-ramai at the apartments, and in recent years, online, or offline. And looking at the three of you, I wondered what happened to the Five of Us and even, the Three of Us. I guess we could all provide excuses, but I believe that it takes major efforts on our parts to even be casual nowadays. But for a short while there, I felt like I was a part of the kind of friendship that we thought could traverse adulthood. Anyhoo, it was sweet of you three to come over and make those purchases. I didn’t know you were into kains! I would have blabbed it earlier on then! S’ok, onwards to the next batch!

Its the 2nd day of the week, and already I felt as if my cup is running over. I spent hours yesterday, organizing and packing, and yet, managed to leave home late today. Fortunately, due to the blessed school holidays, the train provided me a seat. Unfortunately, I wasn’t sleepy enough to warrant me a comfortable nap, and I didn’t have a book with me. Dang. Tu la sebabnya hari ini saya sudah pun membeli buku Agatha Christie baru bernilai RM 1 di kedai charity kegemaran saya.

Today, was involved in a photo shoot. Smiling for long moments is sooo not my cup of tea, nor staring at people’s noses or front teeth while beads of sweat formed on my forehead. I do hope the pictures would turn out ok. This will be used as a montage for an audience of nearly 400 people, so yeah, that is gonna keep me awake at nights. *shudder* Remind me to not accept any more offers after this. Twas glamorous at first, unfortunately, I kept cringing at the thoughts of how badly it could turn out that I'm getting a crick in my neck. So, in order to save me from neck pain, I’ll pass, the next time. Biarlah saya menjadi audience pulak lepas ni ye.

However, this weekend is something I’ve been looking forward to in a long time. A trip up north to visit the Nonzies and her mighty Prince! Can’t wait! I think most of the excitement comes from thinking about all the food that can be found in that state up there. Uuuu, nasi kerabu..uu, nasi dagang..uu, nasi hoover...uu, nasi tumpang...uuu colek...uuu som tam....uuuuuu.....So, there goes the diet down the drain. Why bother huh? Saya juga akan menjadi posmen bagi supplier kain saya di sini, so ladies, expect new stock coming in soon! *rubs hands in anticipation*

Apa lagi eh? Currently, I’m in love with my nifty but guilty listening pleasure. Last FM. Hehehe courtesy of Idlan *i tell you, she should be in marketing laa, whatever she promotes/ or don’t on her website, I get hooked!* So, currently, my artist tags are Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Jason Mraz, Robbie Williams. And I’ve discovered Renee Olstead..*sigh*.

Good news are a-flying past me by. Ex-roomie with a bun in the oven, best friend’s bun’s rising very well *hehe*, old acquaintances getting hitched, old pal settling in a very happy relationship, extremely close friends getting hitched during Christmas *should I be dressed up in the colours of the season, do u think?*, and business prospects getting brighter, insya-Allah, Alhamdulillah.

Not to mention a tiny purchase of a coveted "thing" that I’ve eyed over a year ago *pats self on back*.

oh yes, and here i would like to add on for the benefit of SOMEONE out there: I went to my colleague's one-year old son's birthday party with the Diva! *strikes conventional model pose*

There..happy?? hehehe...just don't make my life a misery nanti k, especially in the coming days of that annual dinner...nanti i stressed, tak boleh nak cari baju glitzy and glamour-y, dah tak glam...macamane nak menari choreographed steps yang sangat over dengan u?

Oh, for the want of an empty karaoke room..

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

- Barry Manilow’s "Copacabana" -

I’m friggin, friggin sleepy..

and for some reason, I have the song "Copacabana" running through my head...and whenever I think of this song, I’ll automatically think of the scene in "Friends" where Rachel sang it at her ex-husband’s wedding...and I’ll remember how as kids, my siblings and I weren’t allowed to watch that much TV, so what we do is we’d tape the show, which came on like every Thursay night at 10.30 or something like that..and every day, coming back from school, we’d have lunch in front of the TV, rewinding the tapes over and over again, balancing our plates of rice on our crossed legs.

Such were those days. I think the reason why I still remember some of the dialogues were because of those afternoons spent watching all those episodes....

I can barely open my eyes this morning. Last night was the farewell dinner of a certain management person and that dragged on till midnight, what with the auld lang syne and waiting to shake people’s hands and so on. I love the company I was with last night, as we were quite loud, and unashamedly enjoyed ourselves among the crowd of senior staff who are prolly bored out of their minds. Food could have been better tho.

Oh, and did I mention I’ve added a new activity to my life? Line Dancing *shut up!*. And before you get images of cowboys and cowgirls do-si-do-ing, or worst, a bunch of old ladies in tight kebayas dancing to old, poppish Jawa songs, let it be known that my instructor is this cool lady who was featured in a few magazines, talking about how line dancing is beneficial for your health. And, we do really cool steps and the songs are catchy, that you can’t resist shaking your booty even before she starts teaching hehe. Its funky enough for the younger people, and fun enough for everyone. And amazingly, these kind of activities actually gets you concentrating so hard *on the steps* that you tend to forget all your problems, or your to-do list...it’s such a relief! Everything else jut floats away, and what’s left are thoughts on how to pivot quickly, shimmy shake properly, and ball-change with grace. I don’t have that much grace *one of my senior bosses just does all the steps so gracefully and with such style that I tend to just stand behind her, trying to imitate her :p*, but the enthusiasm is definitely there! Haha! So, my Monday evenings are spent bopping around with a bunch of ladies, which is good cuz I was looking for another cardio-ish activity to do other than Jazzercise. And since our car has been taken away to be repaired, I haven’t been going for Jazzercise for lack of transport, which is quite a bummer. Le derriere feels a little bit bigger than usual, hmmm....

My kain sales are doing quite well, alhamdulillah. I never knew I could get such satisfaction from selling, even though i’m only helping a friend. I suppose it helps that those gorgeous kains speak for themselves, whenever I drape them, so I’d have all these ladies, gushing over them. I knew that leaving my previous company could have some hikmah because I never felt very comfortable promoting their products *sigh*. Now, I know, I could never be one those people who could just sell anything for the sake of selling, I have to BELIEVE in the product, hehe. Oh well, at least my conscience is clear, plus i’m getting over my shyness of approaching senior people *it helps tho that everyone’s been so nice* and I’m getting to know more people here. Unfortunately, I’ve developed this peculiar habit of staring at my sales sheets at all times, just looking at the figures, haha!

Okie dokes, today is kerja day, files are a-coming, and a gentleman in Johor is already awaiting my call..so toodles!

The Return Of

Benar dikau kucinta

Setiap detik kupuja
Kau sering perhatiku
Sambil belai rambutmu
Tak ingin aku lupa
Kenangan yang tercipta
Berikan aku diari kutulis setiap hari

- Pretty Ugly’s "Diari Seorang Lelaki" -

When i’m into a song, I tend to have this annoying habit of repeating it over and over again, until I get so muak of that song. This happened with that Ungu Violet song, those Dewa songs, those songs from Salon and currently i’m listening to Pretty Ugly’s "Diari Seorang Lelaki", courtesy of the Ownz! Thanks Ownzies! :) Its turning out to be a happy start this morning.

Anyway, last Saturday saw the return of.....Dalie the Klutzoid! *thunderous applause*

Oh, btw, I was reminded, again, just yesterday, of how small the world really is. Imagine your name being spoken of by complete strangers in a different country...spooky! Or, perhaps I could just silencekan my name on this blog, but since almost everyone reading it is my known friend, so I won’t really bother. I think it would not bother me as much if i’m not aware that you, you and you out there are reading/ have read my blog and kept silent about it, even though we converse on a daily basis. What you don’t know won’t hurt you kan?

Back to the Klutzoid I was/am/forever will be. Last Saturday was the birthday celebration of a friend’s one year old son. Do you know how hard it is to shop for a year old boy, with a limited budget?? Ok laa, so I went to a tiny departmental store, and conveniently forgot that within vicinity is a Toys R Us *chop, how do u write the R terbalik aa?*. Aaanyway, everything in that tiny sParksons is either educational *boooringg*, or pink *not applicable* or pretty expensive *Fisher Price toys*. I finally managed to find a tiny golf set in eMPH *imagine, in eMPH. I’m a sucker for those kind of toys. You know, the tiny shopping trolleys, tiny beach toys, tiny stove...those things that makes a kid imitate a grown up. I still remember how my niece practised walking by pushing a tiny shopping cart *Aunty misses you, Anisah Lalala!!! Mwahh, mwahh!*

There I go digressing. So I went la to my friend’s place, had yummy-yummy brunch amongst young parents..with young kids..running around. Gee, I wonder where is that ticking noise coming from? But kata klutz kan, and presently I found myself with a tiny spot of sambal on my top...eeks!!!! So nye, I rushed off to the nearest toilet *btw, we were by the pool, so there’s a toilet cum changing room nearby*. There was no mirror, and I went on dabbing the spot with water. Of course, that resulted in a huge water stain on my chest. So unflattering and passe, honey. But the stain was almost gone then, thank god.

However, I wasn’t quite satisfied *and I don’t know what has made me more anal lately, dulu I couldn’t care less walking around with mud stains on the knees of my jeans!*, so I dabbed the wet spot with a paper napkin that I managed to grab before going to the toilet.

The paper napkin was red.

I didn’t know how that fact managed to slip my mind, but next thing I know, I found a HUGE, WET, RED with a capital MERAH spot on my chest *Like it needs any definitionla kan* I remembered suppressing a shriek of horror and jumped up and down for about 3 minutes. Plus, there was no sabun in the toilet for me to wash off the stain. How was I going to go back to the party??

Somehow I managed to catch my friend *birthday boy’s mom* and she nearly shrieked, and told me to quickly, quickly go up to her apartment. Thank heavens for that. So I managed to clean up a bit, till the spot became a barely visible pink smear on my top. It does not help that I was wearing a blue and white transparent kurta. Uggh...what a morning. And I had to leave a plate of yummy herbal nasi lemak and satay during that ordeal.
It just had to happen to me la. I’m a magnet for attracting disaster apparently. Nie yang kena mandi bunga nie, hehehe.

But my good fortune turned up early this week, as I was able to clinch some sales. Bunyi mcm big deals je, padahal jual kain, hahaha. Of course i’m gonna promote myself un-self-consciously here. To anyone reading this, I am currently helping a friend sell some batiks. They are super duper gorgeous, very exclusive *as i’ve not found any pieces that are identical*, and judging by the quality, quite reasonably priced. Plus, you can pay in installments *big grin*. So, those who are interested, or forced to wear them twice a month like I am, are welcomed to get in touch with me, and i’ll hold a viewing party at your convenience. Or I can take you to my friend’s place for more selection.

Unfortunately, due to my random stupidity, I managed to blow a huge portion of my paycheck on something else, so yeah, i’m officially broke for the rest of the year.

*sigh*

C’est La Vie.

By Jove, I will say what I want!

These are the days that I've been missing

Give me the taste give me the joy of summer wine

These are the days that bring new meaning

I feel the stillness of the sun and I feel fine

Sometimes when the nights are closing early

I remember you and I start to smile

Even though now you don't want to know me

I get on by, and I go the extra mile

- Jamie Cullum's "These Are The Days" -

I think I have gotten rather attached to this place. Surprising as it is, for I never thought I could ever be attached to a place any longer than for a year. And yet, it has been slightly over a year, and I have not been counting the months, so I gathered, maybe, just maybe, this is IT.

Then, came the phonecall about a month ago. The agonizing half day I spent in that room. The sense of bewilderedness I felt that morning, as I had my breakfast, with KL morning air and traffic noises surrounding me. But of course, being me, I would amount it all to nothing, and subsequently went on doing what I do to survive daily.

And yet, the second call came a few days ago. Again, its nothing to get all excited about. However, it has put several things into my perspective. And, no matter how much I want to defer it till the inevitable happens (big IF it happens), I am forced to face the possibilities: This would be, if successful, the job to end all jobs.

***

I’ve had glorious fun for the past 2 weeks plus. Glorious, glorious fun, and looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way. And nay, I shall not be ashamed by that fact. I think it all boiled down to working hard and playing hard. And I deserved to enjoy every bit of it.

The first trip up to Colmar was lovely, very, very insightful and fulfilling. Shouldering the responsibilities of preparing reports amidst heated verbal discussions is not a bed of roses, that I can tell you. But being a part of the whole process gives such satisfaction at knowing that your present work, and what the organization’s goals amounts to something. I had such fun with the rest of the crew, clacketing on our laptops, trying to be alert and catching what everyone else is saying, preparing the reports, double checking everything, staying up past late and rushing those reports to be amended, and finally hearing them being presented. Of course, listening to those reports be slightly butchered did tweaked our hearts a bit, but I’ve learned that that’s the best way to keep our heads up and to anticipate what’s needed and to be more focused.

chop, I sound like a pretentious prick...

best gilerrrr siott! It was so memenatkan, and I didn’t sleep properly for a week, but its all worth it. However, we’ve still got to finalise the reports for the big Mgmt meeting mid month, but I think with this team, we can basically accomplish loads. Walaupun with constant bickering among ourselves. Well, which could also be offset with constant gossipping hehehe.

The resort was beautiful, rooms mediocre but with a certain rustic charm, food could SO be improved, and service? Ditto. The final night dinner was hmm..interesting, not to mention, again Fun! This is where the other sides of the management were revealed, along with their creativity and ultimate "sportingness". And who would have thought our show which was crafted late the previous night, consisting of a bunch of old men prancing around with fans, and a jumbled up Hindi and Arab dance, and the kitschy M. Daud Kilau joget fest could fetch first prize?? yeah baby! And the sweet moment when the OD passed me his prize instead..oh swoon! Oh, and let’s not forget the action on the dance floor *winks* hmm, ada possibility ke nak pergi B*st*n or Os*k* in times to come? hahaha, wishful thinking! but twas good, CLEAN, old-fashioned *trust me* ...fun!

The week after that saw me climbing that stretch of highway again, but with a different crowd this time. Oh, this was also fun. And eye-opening. The accomodations this time was tops! Lovely rooms, and beds. One night, and it almost wiped away the fatigue of the previous week. Food were interesting and adequate. View: simply lovely. Course: went well, although at one time, I felt like strangling one of the speakers because he sounded so pretentious aka perasan bagus. Hey, we’re not ALL like that ok. Especially not us young ones. The older ones maybe, but even then the ones that I come in contact with everyday is barely THAT. The activities: Tops!!!!! Right from the ball balancing thingy to the treasure hunt! My groupmates: Right from the overenthusiastic ones to the heavily pregnant ones, they were great and will for some time leave memorable thoughts for me to giggle over. The BBQ dinner and show: Gelak macam nak mati, and all of them were super duper creative. Face towels for sumo outfit?? plastic straws for Thai fingernails? paper fans?? newspaper elephants?? hilarious!! And apparently, karaoke is inevitable. So we adjourned to a tiny karaoke lounge to sing our hearts out, only to be told that they’re closing early. Cheh. But the whole gang was the best. And that left some kind of hope, for me, I think, in actually surviving here with them. Hmm, not to mention one Tiger leader, ngeh ngeh ngeh.

Ah well...it was all good, clean, fun. Something I sorely need, but unfortunately, something i’m spoilt with, cuz now i’m just bored. Work is ever piling up, and what’s with the change of a certain management person, i’ve to be kept on my toes at all times. Yikes.

Right, deal with it.

As of now, i’ve gotta clear more stuff, and sharpen my internal vocabulary for a lunchtime scrabble duel. I’ve a feeling my opponents are doing the same.
