My crowd of people

Each time I see a crowd of people
Just like a fool I stop and stare
It's really not the proper thing to do
But maybe you'll be there
I go out walking after midnight
Along the lonely thoroughfare
It's not the time or place
To look for you
But maybe you'll be there

- Diana Krall's "Maybe You'll Be There" -

It's one of the oldest cliches, but time really does fly huh?

I just realised that it's been a year plus since i came back from the UK, and it's already been 6 months that i've attached myself to this government agency, and in less than 3 months, i'll be turning 26.

Upon reflecting those sentences, I'm suddenly awashed by a myriad of memories of what has happened this year. My previous employment, my current employment, my best friend getting married, meeting new people, making a new best friend that i can't live without, travelling, learning how to dance, learning how to communicate with the opposite sex, falling in like with another someone after a long period of not having such feelings...

ok, so i do reminisce a lot, but sometimes, in the morning, and after listening to Diana Krall, i tend to get melancholic, especially before i get down to my daily grind of work.

It is now the holy fasting month, and my aim to try and complete my Terawikh prayers have been somewhat halted after the first week as since its the fasting month, everyone's taking the advantage to catch up with everyone else, hence: reunion buka puasa gatherings. Of which i am truly grateful for because not only i get to choose what i'm having for berbuka (instead of just eating what's on the table at home), its the grandest chance to meet up with long-lost friends; friends you vow never to lose touch with because they were once important. Which got me thinking, we meet up with these friends for buka puasa gatherings, and again, within the next month, for raya open houses, where we would exchange numbers and promise to meet up "soon". Instead, a whole year would pass by without a single word exchanged, unless by a chance meeting in the malls (where else to meet every single person in Malaysia, right?. And before you know it, the next fasting month rolls in, and you find yourself digging up that number of your long-lost friend. A conscious cycle of unconscious attitude.

But for the past 2 nights i've menunaikan tanggungjawab as a friend to meet up with other friends :) Monday was with my 2 best friends,a fiance and a younger sister, in which i break-fasted with an unagi set..hmm, not so satisfying actually, but i wasn't in the mood for anything else. Last night, it was with the ex-housemates and their friends, which i predicted to be a short affair, because i thought i had grown apart from them, and would find nothing to talk about. Well, that did happen at first, but things turned out fine at the end, and i left wishing i had more time to spend with them. And i've missed walking with celebrity lookalikes! hehe...

It was as if he knew that this would be a week of reunion of sorts for me ,that the Jeevster from days of yonder (Darjah 6 Ros) decided to grace me with a phone call yesterday, demanding a reunion. My reply: balik-balik I, balik-balik I, why is it that its always ME who gets to organize reunions, of which, not everyone would be so keen to attend pun *merajuk mode*. But he reassured me of his attendance, so I'm now looking up suitable dates for this gathering. I gather it would prolly be this Sunday at some obscure place in Subang, if not for berbuka then most prolly for expensive coffees :)

And yet, a surprise sms trickled in prompting me into getting in touch with the beautiful Dr. who screamed blue murder at me for not keeping in touch with her. Well, if it were not for the sms that brought the news of Maizie giving birth to a baby girl, I would not be sitting here, thinking out where would be a nice place to berbuka for TOMORROW nite..yes, Sri Amanians, i'm thinking of an ad-hoc gathering, spread the words, but its gonna be tomorrow night, cuz that's the only night Dr Rey is not on call this week, and i still have not found anywhere to book as yet.

So i thought the gathering with the uni mates on Saturday would be the icing on the already packed week of reunions. However, the current friends of the organization are going out on Friday night, and moi would of course want to tag along, especially if the Dish of the Year is coming along as well :p

Speaking of which,*sigh*, can i just write this down? As i was crossing the road this morning, paying no attention to the cars waiting for lil old me daintily making her way, i did however noticed/ sensed this car waiting by the kerb at the corner of my eye. Somehow I sensed it was him, but i didn't look (no use in getting all disappointed so early in the morning). But as i safely crossed, and all the cars behind me started to zoom, i just turned, and there he was. And to see him grinning out of the open window at me, is more than enough for me despite of whatever that's been going on in my head at the moment. A silent prayer of thanks, and i'm still smiling from the afterglow.
