Recovering what is lost

what day is it
and in what month
this clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up
and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

cause it's you and me and all of the people
with nothing to do
nothing to lose
and it's you and me and all of the people
and I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

- Lifehouse's "You and Me" -

Music. Once in a while, you come across a song; a lilting tune, a moody rhythm, a soothing melody or a simple jingle-jangle of guitar strings. You close your eyes, savor the opening melody, and let it wash all over you till you feel like you’re swimming in a pool of oblivion; where nothing exists except you and the music. Sometimes you smile, other times you find yourselves tapping the rhythm on anything you can get hold of. And sometimes, a song can evoke such memories that makes you stumble, hit the ground and break into tears.

Tears. It trickles, it gushes, it slides downward, defying gravity, mercilessly. It begins with a surge of warmth beneath the eyelids, the prickle of heat on your irises, the heaving emotions as your catalyst. Then, out, out came the streams of clear remorse, the rivers of sadness, the drops of happiness, the salty taste of fear, the pristine fountain of undying love.

Love. Elusive as the shadow, inviting as the calm lake, reckless as the passing wind, tempestuous as the stormy skies, pure as a new dew. Fiery hot as a beloved’s touch, moist as a lover’s lips, warm as the hands that loved. Yearned like an unborn baby and hungered like a day’s bread. Enduring as the desert sands, solid as a rock, a package of happiness wrapped in memories.

Memories. There’s too much to be said, too much that could have been done, too much of what ifs. Turn it over, fluff out the dust, rearrange the shape, pat it gently with a newfound fondness. What once was ugly emerge in its beauty, what once was doubtful became clear, and what once was not there, comes into existence, and will remain. Enduring, pure, warm, solid as a rock.

My rock.

Love is love. Love love.

That’s all there is to it.

And, as I close my eyes,
My mind rushes with the intensity
Of a floating feather….

And, as I breathe,
My lungs are punctured,
With the tender, sweet air…

And, as my lips curves into a smile,
My heart bursts in its entirety,
With the thoughts of you…

ouch

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

- Howie Day's "Collide" -

I am seriously losing my stamina. I just came back from a 2-hour walkabout in an Oil and Gas Exhibition in the new KL Convention Centre, and I'm already pooped. Not to mention the fact that these days, as soon as my butt hits the seats on the Komuter, I doze off. Like a baby.

yeesh.

Anyway, if anyone saw a young lady wearing a red baju kurung with a huge red flower in her hair walking around with glazed eyes and 2-shopping bags full of brochures, trying to look interested at the exhibition, chances are, that's me :) Since I work for this regulatory agency, we are also required to visit these exhibitions. So off I went, with the P & the D of the division. Their mission: scout cute chicks. Mine: scout yummy Engineers.

Did they succeeded? In scouting, like totally. Have you seen the ladies there? No offence to other lady chemical engineers and the likes, but these ladies are equivalent to the umbrella ladies of the F1 races. Yes, right down to their skimpy skirts. I kid you not. One company, which shall remain nameless as I've already forgotten what their name was, had very, very attractive ladies in matching tight black dresses distributing brochures and giving explainations. Another company, had 2 F1 beauties with pastel coloured attire which, in my opinion, would not look alien in a Hello Kitty merchandise store.

Needless to say, you see older men gravitating towards these booths, grinning and hanging around. Surprising that is, for an industry that's quite mature to employ such immature tactics. But, to each his own, I guess.

On the other hand, my eyes started unfocusing themselves automatically after looking at the first few pumps, valves and pictures of oil platforms. TOwards the end, I find myself scanning the company names for well-known ones, and one that might have potential employment opportunites (whoops, did that come out? :p) My quest turned into "eh, let's get that cotton cloth bag I saw that man carrying", which the P and the D seemed happy to comply with..aww, such sweeties. Then again, none of us had any oil and gas background, so we barely understood what we saw. Kudos however to the GE guy who explained this ..thingy.. that's used to detect corrosive gasses in pipes, even though, we, clearly, barely knew what he was talking about.

Result: I now have sore feet and I am seriously considering putting them up and taking the afternoon off to have a leisurely nap. Which btw, is another haha fantasy. Reality check: I have mountains (well, hills) of files on my table to go through and process, and I have a session this evening which I predict will turn me into a quivering mess of gloop ( I don't even make sense here).

Here's to a lovely afternoon :)

Added on 1/2 hour later:

- I have the best "persidangan" buddies ever!!! Despite my constant complains, I have lovely, lovely people to share the day with. So you, you, you..I like!! Let's have more persidangans later..this time, with food, oh glorious food pulak! ;)It's a lovely afternoon so far :)

Keep your shirt on Makcik, i'm updating...

Aku jatuh cinta,'tuk kesekian kali
Baru kali ini ku rasakan cinta sesungguhnya,
tak seperti dulu
kali ini ada pengorbanan
Cinta bukan sekedar kata-kata indah
cinta bukan sekedar buaian belaian peraduan

Hello all :) First of all, let me introduce myself. I am the new, kononnye self-improved version of The Dalie. This Dalie, nowadays, wakes up every morning without being prompted (or screamed at). This Dalie, would lay out her next day's work clothes out and makes sure she has everything she needs in her bag, instead of scrambling after everything in the morning before rushing off to work. This new and improved Dalie has clocked in improved shower time, and has managed to get ready within the span of 30 minutes (if she REALLY has to), that she even takes an earlier train to work nowadays, before punching in at approximately 7.40 am. This Dalie has even attempted to get fit by signing up at a local gym, vowing to lose whatever girth she has by the end of the year, and makes new resolutions every week. Most importantly, this Dalie, is trying to achieve her most important goal yet: writing up an entry in her blog without her customary ... instead of .

Phew,i made it!! One whole paragraph of COMPLETE sentences! Yippie yay me!! Am gonna get myself a vitagen for that :)

How i miss thee, o blog. I have missed clacketing on the keyboard every morning, I have missed googling up lyrics, and I have missed sharing-means-caring my stories to whomever out there who still reads this. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your never ending support (hehe, cam Oscar acceptance speech la pulak).

Anyways, updates of my so-called existence:

- Didja know I was part of the screaming bunch at the Dewa concert? You did?! How did u ever guessed? Haha! Despite what everyone (Melodi) said, the concert rocks my socks! Yes, it did. Despite, the endless pushing and shoving, the tippy-toeing to get a look at the huge screen, the stupid people covering up the screen most of the time, the extremely over-priced mineral water, the lovey-dovey couple, the weirdo who had his hands on my shoulders (eww! get away from me!!) and the glorious SWEAT, I actually had fun. Which in turn made me google Once and Dewa the next day, till up to about 50 Google pages :) Would i do it all over again? In a flash, baby!

- Weddings, weddings and more weddings. I actually didn't go to one cuz I ran out of bajus to wear. Brief description of each:

1. The first wedding that started the chain reaction was Safurah's and Ilish. This one I've been waiting for quite a bit, because knowing Safurah being a creative genius and a perfectionist, I was expecting something different. And different it was, from the wedding card (designed by the married couple with their own logo and a caricature of their profile), to the guests' gifts (gold-foil covered chocolates embossed with their profile), to the unique guestbook idea (the exquisite paper detailing what is required of each guest and the silver pen as a complimentary gift), her wedding outfit (a Spanish-looking outfit! How delicious!) right up to the canopy underneath where they had their makan beradab (with ivys trailing down). One word: Lovely, as lovely as the couple themselves. Congratulations u guys!

2. The second one was Irfan's and Adila. Irfan was my primary schoolmate and Adila, was actually my previous boss's daughter. Of course I wouldn't miss it for the world! The married couple looked gorgeous in a colour which I personally think is not a good idea to be married in, but it worked for them. The food was good, the ambience was warm, the asli group and the tarian cincin thingy was a nice touch, the company was great, all in all an enjoyable afternoon wedding. Congrats Irfan and Adila!

3. The third was Ainor's, my UK roomie. Haa, this one I waited over a year for, and it finally came. The nikah ceremony was on a Saturday night, which I went with cousin dear, Tina Bina Wina, stopping over for chocolates on the way. Ainor got to wear all the colours that she wanted for her entire wedding do, pink for engagement, white for nikah, purple for berinai and gold for her daytime reception. We stayed for the nikah ceremony till past midnight (mengalahkan relatives!), fussing over her, clowning around, and enjoying the most delicious teh tarik ever (courtesy of D'Saji). Someone mentioned that they might have put drugs into the teh tarik, cuz we kept going back for more. Then someone put forth the idea that the COW was drugged so that the milk produced could turn the teh tarik into such a delicious frothy concoction :p The nikah went well, and the groom happened to be related to my ex-neighbour in Gombak dulu. What a small, small world. The bersanding event the next day was also nice, albeit the heat in Putrajaya. Our rombongan consist of myself, cousin dear, Ainurul and Athirah. My mom, dad and sis came separately, and all of us went back home not with the person we came to the wedding with :p It was a reunion of all sorts at Ainor's wedding. Met Ita and her brother, Safurah and Ilish the newlyweds, and a classmate from uni, Siti (something, I can't remember!) :p All in all, it was the grand finale to a year's worth of looking at wedding pictures (hari-hari bukak fotopages :p), buying things to keep for the occasion (from carboots la, factory outlets la), picking up colour schemes, pining and whining and slimming :) i'm glad things work out for her. Ainor is a determined person, if she's got her mind on something, you know she'll go all out to get it. Here's wishing you a grand life, dear!

4. Finally, the wedding of my Std 6 classmate, Emil to Adizah. I can't believe this jet-setting chef would be one of the first to get married! The first was the class hottie, but that doesn't count cuz, errm, err, they got married too young :p the second one kinda didn't really count, because it was arranged (but the groom is drop dead gorgeous and I have their reception to look forward to at the end of the month!), so Emil getting married to a Sabahan came as a pleasant surprise (I always thought he would get married to some mat salleh or non-Malay, hehe). The reception was held on a Thursday night, and I of course, rushed from home, only to collide with the traffic on Federal Highway, with Belinda (ex-classmate) on the handphone, almost screaming in my ears "Hurry up, where are you?????", because she's been booking 6 seats from 7 pm which was the time she arrived at the reception hall, and most of us arrived after 8 :p It was the best seats though, we got to see them walk down the aisle to an oldies song, see him cringe on his pelamin when his uncle made jokes during his speech, and saw the blonde couple jigging to an old Malay kahwin tune. The food was also good, 'tis different from other wedding fare, and the desert was to die for! The gang consisted of myself, Belinda, Azura, Mel and Anwar, dressed to our nines, and despite making plans to have coffee later, the prospect of facing work the next day was enough to cancel all plans. Lovely wedding, lovely parents of the groom (his father is also a jet-setting banker, currently based in Jakarta, and his mom is beautiful! I think she's a lecturer)..Congratulations Emil and Adi!

ok, one reason why I have not blogged all this while was because my work in the office does not involve a lot of clickety-clacking on the keyboard, and I don't want to rouse any suspicions that I might just be goyang-ing my kaki and not doing any work :p

my work? well, we'll save that for another entry dahling.

Oh, oh, I was royally snubbed yesterday! Yay! Man, did it feel good :)
