The worst of me
If I just breathe
Let it fill the space in between
I'll know everything is alright
Breathe
Every little piece of me
You'll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe
- Michelle Branch's "Breathe" -
Yes, yes..i turned 25 last week..on a Tuesday to be precise..and I was not at liberty to take the day off as I promised to my bestfriends..instead, I had to run around like a headless chicken that morning,..and go for an interview that evening, stood my friends up for the entahkeberapa kali….and cut my generic birthday cake alone in our makeshift dining room….
I don’t bloody care about the cake tho…the thought was nice and I am thankful that they remembered, although, last week I was pretty numb as I didn’t have much care for anything else….but thank you, thank you for all your wishes..god knows I needed the smiles whenever my phone rings with another birthday sms…
And so now, not only I’m dead tired from a whole weekend of standing around, trying to sell the company’s products, I am also acquiring a reputation of being a person who ‘tidak menepati janji’, a boring person who doesn’t want to go out, and the best part was when a certain someone said, “Dalie, what’s happened to you??” just because I have a VALID excuse for not going out with the girls….
Wow..bila I cari orang orang takde..bila I busy giler, berduyun2 datang and dares to COMPLAIN…which I SOOOOO hate…..
Yes, I don’t go clubbing anymore, yes, I don’t go to watch movies anymore, yes, I go to bed early cuz I need to get up early, yes I’m no longer YOUNG & ENERGETIC…
And yes, I DON’T BLOODY CARE….when I heard that I was supposed to provide an alibi for a certain friend’s mistake for having a rendezvous with her boyfriend away, I nearly said yes smugly, as hey, I don’t have to cari people to do that, cuz I’m tooo boring to be doing anything like that..and I actually smiled smugly, when I read the headlines about the 100 muslims caught in the nightclub…knowing that If I were to accept my friend’s invitation, I wouldn’t want to be reading things like that the morning after….
That actually took up the emotions for a whole week…what a waste…
Then there’s the constant search for that someone whom I can talk to and whose answers are unbiased, not prejudice, and boleh dipakai…when you’ve turn to the same people all these years for advices, you detect an answering pattern….i wish there’s someone out there with the perfect answer....ideally, this person * a female, i think* should have big hair, wear long skirts, low heels, have a kindly face with cool looking glasses....then again, it seems that at the end of the day, i wouldn't want to take responsibility for my actions, and would just BLAME everything on that person...
Then again, I just wish that I can just run out to an open field, and scream my lungs out….this is something I’ve been seriously contemplating to do lately…..
This post seemed to have brought out the worst of me..and yet…
I don’t bloody care….
*but to those who’ve been there last week, thank you, thank you, thank you….*

Smooth Ride
Tryin to find the magic,
Tryin to write a classic,
Dontcha know, dontcha know, dontcha know?
Wastebin full of paper,
clever rhymes- see ya later
These words are my own, from my heart flow,
I love you, i love you, i love you, i love you,
There's no other way to better say
I love you, i love you
- Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words" -
This is verry lame but I have to blog about what a stress-free ride I had going back home yesterday….
I actually got back from the Golden Triangle in KL to Shah Alam within 30 minutes….
That, ladies and gents, can be called upon as a modern-day miracle by moi..
Now I know its not much of a thing for anyone else, but its such a huge thing for me that I even remembered to be thankful of it in my prayer…
The thing with riding on public transportations is that it takes time…true, it does cut on your jammed-up-on-the-highway time, but it takes time to wait, then board and stop at every destination, then sometimes a crawl *if you take to Komuter* cuz the train in front of you might be behind time…then there’s the 15 minutes wait between each trains…and the wait for everyone to settles SAFELY in the train for it to move…The LRT is slightly better tho' as its quite fast..
however, dealing with the crowd is something inevitable..well, if you want to avoid the crowd, prepare yourself to wake up super early to catch the first train..the crowd on the Komuter has so far been bearable…there’s always a little breathing space, if not for lack of things for you to pegang *if all else fails, just grab the person nearest to you, and make sure your hands lay on their “safe” territory*…unfortunately, the crowd on the LRT , especially if you’re getting on at KL Sentral later than 7.30 am, is absolutely horrendous with a capital H…you kinda get a sinking feeling when you see the LRT coaches moves into the station, and this skinny lady standing right at the front seemed to be pressed on to the observation window….then you know you’re getting an absolutely smashing ride…as in smashed up against everyone, with dunno who’s hands on your territory *shudders*….
Its really, really, REALLY bad..sometimes, I wonder how people put up with it everyday..i would always have to hold a book to myself as a shield…and let’s not get into the issue of perverts..well, not perverts as in hands grabbing backsides *although that could be possible*..more of the staring kind..yup, they stare at your chest, behind, or wherever they fancy, which btw, is really, really disgusting…whenever I think I caught someone doing that, I always have fantasies of me chasing him *with the rest of everyone on the train*, to bring him down just so I can smash my high-heeled boots onto his face..seriously..and yes, should it happen, I would seriously do that…avoiding the crowd is the sole reason why I would wake up early to go to work..woe betide if I were to miss my wake-up alarm….
But when that happens I would take the car and drive..driving is a guilty pleasure I take cuz I know I’m depriving someone at home of their ride *hehehe*..but its really peaceful, with the radio blasting in the background…unfortunately, driving has its drawbacks…the aforesaid traffic jam…ya ampun…the other day, I was stuck on Jalan Tun Razak for an hour, and I just felt like killing myself….or the very least, turn back and call in sick…Jalan Tun Razak is unbelievably murderous, I tell you….i mean, there I was happily driving down the Kesas highway when wham! Bang! Smack daddy into the Tun Razak crawling stretch….and not to mention the glaring sun on your face cuz you woke up late and the sun already came out…
I came in late twice this week..once at 9.30 am (!!!) and the other 9.00 am…and I left the house at 7.30 am…sheesh…so, this kakak colleague of mine in the office decided to take pity on me and turunkan her ilmu of 'Driving to and fro the office from Shah Alam 101'….after one session, I felt enlightened..i could feel a ray of light dawning on my face, and my pupils dilating…*it could just be the evening sunlight that comes in through the office windows, but kasi dramatic sikit la*…i decided to take one of her options as my going-home route yesterday…Jalan Imbi, straight to DBP, cross over, then masuk Federal Highway…
And surprisingly, the road was clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As in I was actually zooming *at normal speed* down the roads, without even stopping…the stretch of road in front of Angkasapuri that I have always dreaded is also clear!!! I nearly fainted in shock and excitement, and I think I screamed :p once I got to PJ, there was the complementary short-but-sweet crawl *sweet because I barely noticed it as I was on the phone:p* that I expected, but if that one was clear as well, I would definitely have fainted….
And I reached home before Maghrib…which is a definite record…and mind you, I actually left the office late…itupun, I had to go pick up my mom’s medication at the pharmacy in Shah Alam before going home laa , dengar the pharmacist promo another product la, called my mom to see if she wanted the alternative *she dowan*, then walked to the mall to go to the Guardian, bought the ubat, then walked out to Starbucks, beli Caramel Macchiato, tunggu benda tu siap and drive back…waa……I got high just on that trip home, haha!
But then again, the roads could be clear as a result of that mini blackout HALF of Malaysia had during lunch, in which I presumed, people went back home…..haa, apa kata staff TNB? ;)

Don't Fly Away!
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try get to you
You are my only one
I let go, there's just no one that gets me like you do
You are my only, my only one
- Yellowcard’s “Only One” -
I’ve got to jot this down before they go flying out of my mind…
Birthday@Chilli’s
This year, I had a super early birthday celebration planned by the gohgeous Cik Anon, which took place at one of my favourite tempat makan…albeit, things happened that day that made me feel wretched at times, but seeing all those faces (all 9 of them!) lifted my mood, and soon they had the staff singing Happy Birthday to me with a token candle on a cheesecake! Aww, how sweet ?…and no, my birthday was not last Friday, but since Nieza had a thing to celebrate, they tied the celebrations together…later on, I accompanied Elly on her errands, and had long chats that I’ve missed..and promptly fell asleep in her shop, as soon as Cik Anon got back from the date *I had a late night before as Kak Moonie and I were too busy downing coffee and laughing to bother about sleeping!*…btw, the 3 of us slept at Elly’s shop as we were supposed to wake up early the next day for Nina’s engagement *Elly was her Mak Andam*
Nina’s Engagement
Alkisahnye, everyone woke up late, tunang-to-be included…so we scrambled out of bed, err floor, got ready as fast as we could, grabbed some buns and drinks from 7-Eleven, pumped up Elly’s car tyres, and zoomed off to Seremban…err, did I mention we left someone by the road on the highway? We actually did ..and err, I heard he made it safely home :p We got there in good time, and Elly started weaving her magic…aobut ½ hour later..voila! a beautifully transformed Nina…the rest of us were basically conked and were lying around in her room…The majlis went nicely, the food was damn good! And there was even pulut kuning, as someone told me that pulut kuning from a majlis tunang is berkat..or was it makan pulut kuning at a majlis bertunang is ambik berkat? Something like that la…met Fuzah, Mylia, Anisah and family, Faizal, and Nina’s cousin who happens to be Eileen’s senior…all of us got teary-eyed when Nina hugged her mom after her to-be-mother-in-law sarungkan the cincin…hung around for a bit, watching Elly act like a Mak Andam, siap touch up every 15 minutes and going around with her makeup bag….
Dinner@Stadium Curry House
What is it about best friends that when you walk away from a 45 minutes dinner and chat, you feel like you’ve spent the whole day together, talking and laughing? God Bless all Best Friends ? The tandoori I had was dry and tough, and the garlic naan was just so-so…but the company was amazingly amazing! Hehehe…I so wish I brought extra clothes yesterday for an impromptu sleepover..with ice-cream lagi tu!! Grr..and I so wish I can take the day off just to hang with them *although I know a day wouldn’t be enough*..but we’ll see what I can do for Friday…err, although, with my mom not having a maid, and half of the house literally gone, I shouldn’t be gallivanting around kan..but what are younger brother and sister for?
The house
The house that I live in is being partially demolished as I type this…due to my mother’s ambitions and dreams, we now have no kitchen, no dining area, no store room, not to mention maid’s room or even a washing area..gone..nada….instead, I have my mother opening the door to the refrigerator which sits in our formal living hall…I now wash plates in our guest bathroom sink, and my mom cooks OUT on the porch..yes, yes, out in the open *not that she hasn’t done it before*…with, a strategically-placed towel rack blocking the view from the neighbour’s house….and the pots and pans? Well, currently they’re occupying the pondok aka gazebo….and last Sunday, as I was walking around the house, I spotted 2 lesung batus *one small one, one big one* just lying by the side of the house oh-so-innocently..if they could talk they’d prolly say “G’day mate!” in a proper Oz accent *how lesung batus can acquire an Aussie accent pun, gua tak tau*…gah!!! Horrendous! And it doesn’t help to feel dust on everything you step on…..
Jingle@Synchrosound
Last night I went to check out the company’s jingle being recorded at Synchrosound…cool looking place, but waayyy scary when you’re alone and only have Nick Hornby’s About A Boy to accompany you..the pak guard at the reception told me to go see Roslan in one of the studios when I told him my intention…how was I supposed to know he was referring to Roslan Aziz??? But no, I didn’t get to see the big guy himself, but I did see his wife *who rode in the same bus as I did in secondary school and stays behind my house in Subang* and his adorable kid….the vocal for our jingle was by Sam Innuendo…and when my cousin told her brother *who was coordinating the recording* what a fan I was, he was like, nak autograph ke?? And I went, NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! As much fun I had last time, i now cringe whenever I thought of what I went through during my period of adoration…malu!!! :p
The offers
Turns out my IQ test results yield that I’m at par with higher management and other decision makers…woohoo! Boleh bukak company laa like this :p but I also found out that I’m stubborn and might “go against company’s decisions and objectives”..pah! ..so that’s one job offer..and yesterday came another enticing job offer by another company as well….and a letter by the government….hmm, choices, choices, decisions, decisions….pulangkanlaa paku serpih tu balik kat I Nonz! I deserve it haha!!
Eh, enough enough..kerja, kerja!

Jinxes United
That I don't ever wanna be like you
I don't wanna do the things you do
I'm never gonna hear the words you say
and I don't ever wanna.
I don't ever wanna be.you.
don't wanna be just like you
What I'm saying is this is the anthem
throw all your hands up
you.don't wanna be you
- Good Charlotte's "Anthem Lyrics" -
Yesterday, as i was walking to the monorail station on Jln Raja Chulan, this hefty Indian guy on a motorbike stopped to park his bike in front of me...i went round the back of the bike as he got off it, swinging his heavy legs over....and his heavy foot, with his heavy boots hit my forearm...
ouch...
i can be so jinxed sometime...please relief me of this thought with a similar story from anyone...
but then again, i am certain i'm jinxed with my mom's car...DAh 3 kali things happened to it when i took it out for a drive...the first was the accident in 2000 *shudders* in which i hit a person on a motorbike from the back..and of all the people in the world that i was destined to hit, i hit a guy who has a slight disability, boleh??...the second was when someone hit me from the back *cheh*..this Chinese girl was late for an interview at NTV7, and both of us at that time didn't have any credits on our phones *rolls eyes*..boleh?? and the third, which is soo unbeknownst to me, was when my mom complained that i hit something, cuz the bumper is falling apart!!
BOLEHH??????
the other day, when i met up briefly with Kak Moonie, she told me something that made me think jinxes attracts each other *trust me, Kak Moonie and i can be so jinxed at some things!*...when we were in Madrid last year, we bought this kononnye movie poster of Spanish matadors, bulls and flamenco dancers at the market..it was just some touristy kitschy thingy that allows us to put our names somewhere in the "movie" credits..so i got one for my bro (ZyD) and she got one for her friend (T.N.)...apparently, she recently went to visit her friend in Perlis where he's staying, and right between two mirrors on his living room wall, is the said poster, all nicely framed up..and as she gaze at the picture of the matador, she noticed something..their conversation kind of went like this:
Kak Moonie: Awak sedar tak yang kat tengah-tengah tu bukan nama awak?
T.N.: Eh, mana ade nama..sumernya Spanish je...
Kak Moonie: Ya Allah, ade nama laa kat tengah-tengah tu!! What are you doing with Senor ZyD???????
Ladies and gentlemen, ter-switch posters...and as we screamed in laughter, we also screamed simultaneously at each other..."boleh tak????????"
oh yeah, speaking of langgar-langgar *not that this happened to her, but it kinda reinforces my theory on jinxes attracts jinxes thing*, her friend, the guy who received MY BROTHER'S poster, once langgar a kambing! he called her up, and in a sad voice told her that he got into an accident..and she was like, "langgar ape?? are you ok???", but in fact, it was a kambing that he langgar-ed cuz he was trying to avoid something on the road...the story actually sounds funny, but well, kesian kambing tu...
*sigh* i so miss her, can't wait to hear juicy gossips petang karang...here's to the hope that i can go off early from the office today!

You are not alone
Takkan mungkin kita bertahan
Hidup dalam bersendirian
Panas terit hujan badai
Kita lalui bersama
Saat hilang arah tujuan
Kau tahu ke mana berjalan
Meski terang meski gelap
Kita lalui bersama
- Siti Nurhaliza's "Seindah Biasa" -
Last night was fun geng, let's sooo do it again!! :)especially the sleepover thingy..ooohhh! i'm getting goosebumps!!hehehe....
although, i did wish i didn't have to wake up so early in the morning to get to work..i thought it was early enough, but apparently it was not as:
a) i couldn't find the black dot on my left contact lense cuz it's prolly rubbed off..i need to know where the black dot is to properly position the lense onto my eyeballs..
b) i couldn't find the top required to make my outfit complete, so i ran around the room like a headless chicken trying to locate it, and finally, decided to change outfits..then i had to go look for another top which found its way into my mom's wardrobe...
c) i had to use the loo :p
cheh....that made me 2 trains late to work..tonight i'm gonna be sensible and lay down the clothes i need to wear to work....
but as a compensation, lunch was provided FOC alhamdulillah :) although i've never had nasi ayam with some kind of acar, but bolehlaa....
i'm actually looking forward to the weekend...i have a celebration cum early birthday dinner on Friday night, Nina's engagement on Saturday, and on SUnday, i should be out there digging for good baju kurung bargains...and certain somethings for a certain couple ;)
Afti mentioned something about the IMAX Cinema which i have been meaning to check out..but as i've never been to Berjaya Times Square, and have not been able to part with my teensy moolah for a film, i didn't get around to check it out...let's make it an outing, shall we? sape2 nak ikut, sila beri nama kepada saya...the movie of choice? well, is still to be decided, altho' the IMAX here doesn't have that many choice...oh yeah, and Nerrs, the thought of IMAX just reminds me of Seth Cohen :p i soo the very lama have not been watching the OC, and since my sis has just downloaded the 2nd season, i might reserve a portion of my weekend to get my fix of Ryan and Seth...and the quite yummy dad...
oh, and i'm meeting Kak Moonie for coffee tomorrow, with an option to karaoke, hehehe....should be an interesting outing ;)

First Day
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
- The Lion Sleeps Tonight -
its easy to forget that January 1 marks the beginning of the new year...well, that is, if like me, you've not been partying the eve before...but what's easy to forget is that January 1 marks the beginning of a SCHOOL year...uh-huh, yep, that one...
remember the butterflies in your tummy? remember wondering who you'll sit with this year, or who your school teacher would be, or would you be even dorkier this year....
i remember my first days vaguely tho..back in kindy, on the very first day of the long period of schooling life i had, my mom just walked me in, jenguk-ed in from outside the window, and left...i think i was quite macho as i didn't cry..looking around at the bawling kids was more interesting..i think i even said hie to the next person...
which was rather weird cuz on the very first day of my mengaji classes belakang rumah with this wonderful lady, Nenek Esah, i was a nervous wreck! i was sooooo shy, and couldn't lift my head up! and i think my maid didn't leave my side, and i almost cried :p i think i just managed the first line of the alif ba tas...but then i managed to graduate much earlier, and i got naughty and all, so all the kesucian of the innocent kid was gone :p
as for primary school, i actually had 3 first days..the first was in this primary school in Gombak where i stayed, and my class was 1 Rajawali..i think...i didn't remember much, cept that my mom stayed for a bit, and there was this over-enthusiastic oversized boy who went round the class pulling the chairs down from their position on top of the desks (remember how you used to have to terbalikkan ur chair on the desk), and when she picked me up later during the day, we had to walk across the huge school's padang with the boisterous kid running alongside us...
the 2nd first day, was when i moved to Subang later during the same year...so, i went in, sat next to Magic, and she offered me a pencil...and a group of superior looking girls, who've established an exclusive clique by sitting in group of 6 ke 8, were giggling behind my back, or so i thought *how a bunch of 7 year olds can appear superior, i also don't know*, but somehow i ended up in that gang, *as opposed to a predominantly Chinese gang of girls, who have the cutest and funkiest stationeries, and who live to play pencil people all day long*, and met my best friend, Eileen *who was the smallest and skiniest person i've ever known at that time*..
the 3rd first day was when i switched classes in Std 4, as the school had decided earlier that we kids staying in SS19 had to go to the SS19 school...err, no! our school was waayy cooler! so my mom used her persuasive power to let the school admit me back..unfortunately, my class was full, and i had to switch to the next class, filled with weird people..or so i thought, at that time....i even told my ex-classmates that i would prolly be transferred back to that class by the end of the year...well, that didn't happen either :p
i guess all this reminiscing came about from hearing that my huggable nephew is actually entering THE VERY SAME kindy i went to yonks ago!!! hows that!!! i knew the kindy still exists, i just didn't know where it went as they had moved..and suddenly, my cousin told me, eh you know, Danny *my nephew* is going to St Ronan..and i went, ST RONAN????? THAT WAS MY KINDERGARTEN TOOO!!!....wow, i guess its still standing...it used to be across the MCDonalds in Setapak, in a colonial bungalow with the shallowest pool this side of town :p
so, my dear nephew, have a good time in school..your mummy told me that you've been wanting to go to school since like forever, and your uncle did try to persuade you to stay at home and enjoy your childhood..but you've survived your first day, although your mummy told me that you were still sleeping at 5 pm as a result of a very tiring first day of school!
aww....

Welcome 2005
I've waited all my life to cross this line
To the only thing that's true
So I will not hide
It's time to try anything to be with you
All my life I've waited
This is true
- Ryan Cabrera's "True" -
my sis and bro asked me where i'd be spending my New Year's eve...
hello, New YEar's eve?? the fact that i nearly got killed by the mob on New YEar's eve 3 years ago has turned me into a recluse...i so much prefer spending New Year's eve in my comfy pajamas, surfing tv channels while eating chocolates....
which was what i did... :)
and of course the excuse that i gave away was.."i'm too old for this NEw Year crap"...
actually, honestly speaking, i would have loved to spend the eve of New YEar with a bunch of my closest friends...i had planned earlier during the month that i would gather my bestfriends in one of the classiest dinner spots in KL, with a perfect view of the yearly fireworks, while we chat about everything in the sun..the fact that this might be the last new year's eve that i'll be spending with them before they turn into monsters..eh, eh...salah, salah...bini orang ;) kinda put in the semangat a bit laa...
then i got busy..then they got busy...then the tsunami hit...
i guess some things are just not meant to be..
on the other hand, i spent the eve of new year, taking an absolutely ridiculous IQ test *but of which, i passed, alhamdulillah, proving that yes, i do have an IQ*, getting rammed by a stupid @#$%*&^ in a stupid, big, green Fiat MPV, plate no: WFW 9680, who does not care for the safety of his family let alone others, and watching malay dramas, concerts, kiddy shows and good looking men on tv...
which totally squash all good thoughts and hopes for 2005....
but then i laughed myself silly at a family gathering in Kelana Jaya on Saturday afternoon, while gossiping with the girly bunch....and then i laughed myself silly again at Ainor's engagement on Sunday morning, among new friends and the most trusty cousin...and spent the evening going on a silly jalan2 spree with the best little sister anyone could have....
and i think to myself, 2005 ain't so bad ;)
and despite me thinking i've got nothing to look forward to, i think there are nice things out there for me to experience...after all, i'll be turning suku abad very soon, and new experiences just have to come my way, making way for the old memories to sleep peacefully kan...
alhamdulillah for a wonderful 2004, insya-Allah for all the hopes of 2005....
think happy thoughts for today dahlings!
