Surreal..but nice

She
May be the face I can't forget
The trace of pleasure or regret
May be my treasure or the price I have to pay
She
May be the song that summer sings
May be the chill that autumn brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day

- Elvis Costello's "She" OST Notting Hill -

Remember that line from Notting Hill? well, that was how my weekend was...surreal, but nice...well, the surreal part is a tiny one, the nice part is the rest of the weekend....

Surreal was me, waking up at 5.15 a.m. on a SATURDAY MORNING (!!) to check out Next's one-day-only half-price sale....well, who asked them to put up big notices saying that they'll be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m? not exactly MY fault then if i deprived myself of my sleep *shrugs* hehehheeh....

**btw, that was the beginning of my entry LAST WEEK and i will now try to continue my best to provide a chronological entry that will illustrate my hectic, hectic week**

sheesh, sampai tak boleh bernafas dibuatnye....anyways, after the Next sale, 2 saturdays ago, i receive a phone call from Huda, inviting me to sleep over her place..what a sweetie! thanks dear! so, off i went...and that night, had dinner with really, really nice people consisting of Huda, Shima, Yusra, Tasha, Kina, Athirah, Ayie, and Apar..did, i miss anyone? anyway, had dinner at this indian restaurant in Bangla Town...quite an experience, i must say...never before have i been approached by soo many indian men! well, the group i was with, that is...the result: relly scrumptious dinner, of about 5 pounds each...quite a good deal, i say...went back to Huda's, tried to watch Something's Gotta Give, but was too tired to due to the early morning shopping spree...of which i only acquired a cardigan..cheh! in the morning, after saying goodbye to Huda, who went off to paint a playground in West London, i stumbled off home, and had a really long nap....

Monday and Tuesday was a blur of getting ready for the arrival of my sister and my best friend, Eileen...did the groceries, cleaned the room, finished up my assignment, had a good session with my supervisor about my dissertation...and then the chaos began...

got a text from my dearest cousin, Tina Yoohoo, who was coming down from Birmingham, to clean up her aunt's place, for her mom's arrival...so agreed to meet up Tuesday evening, to help her with the cleaning up, and groceries...so, right after class, i shoot off to Oxford Street..unfortunately, she's late! so, there i was, merewanging the streets...went into countless shops, tried on stuff (even lingerie!! no, wait, too much info..eeps!) ...finally, she arrived, and i made my way to her aunt's place..which was really, really nice..the thing is, i was supposed to go to Heathrow the next day, to pick the monkeys up at about 3 p.m., so, i thought of just hanging around for a bit with the cous, and then leaving before it gets too late...entah macamane....i ended up, sleeping over her place....with no toothbrush!!! and the best thing was, of ALL the DAYS in my masters uni year, i had to lug all of my textbooks to school on that day...so, not only do i have no toothbrush, or hairbrush for that matter, i also have about 5 kgs on my back!

the night was rather chaotic, as we traipsed the streets of London, looking for a supermarket that's opened till late...*rolls eyes* padan muke, siapa suruh kluar lambat....we walked from Oxford Street to Chinatown, but to no avail..all on an empty stomach pulak tu..and me, the ever resourceful but tak bertempat one, came up with suggestions of supermarkets that are already closed! long story short, we made our way to Bayswater, where we devoured kebabs, and i got my toothbrush! *grins* and a Wall's Cornetto drumstick to mengubat rindu..hehehe...but itupun, chaotic jugaklaa...cuz, whenever i go out with my cousin, mishaps happen...got on the wrong train laa, etc....finally went to bed after helping her with the cleaning up...

the next day, lepas the final cleaning up session, went off to Sainsbury's (yes, the planned grocery trip the night before tak jadi, mishaps remember??), and bought stuff...then she cooked me a yummy lunch of andgel-hair spaghetti carbonara...then i shoot off to pick my monkeys up ....arrived at Heathrow at about 10 minutes to 3 p.m....just nicelaa, the plane was expected at 3.04p.m.....what happened was, i ended up spending about 15 minutes just staring at the notice board, went up and down the airport, and just stared out like a zombie to the streams of passenger coming out...lambat giler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it didn't help that the earlier flight was frm Dhaka, so the airport was filled with people from India..so ramai! i was beginning to think that whoever came down from whichever flight, must be thinking that they've landed at the wrong country....no offense allright...just that, do they have to bring along all the kids?? sooo bising! and people were carrying flowers laa, baloons that says welcome home laa...me? i just have my 5 kg backpack, my tangled hair, and a big, smelly hug should they want them..* shrugs* hehehe...but, all was not lost, i met Eileen's boyfriend's friends who were there to pick her up also..so we chatted and waited....and finally they arrived....

*sigh* what a sight for sore eyes...my sister's grown a little chubby, and my best friend's jaw's are poking out of her skin...right there and then, i vowed to sumbat as much food as possible into her mouth..next to me,she looks like tanned batang lidi....so, off we went, chatting all the way, and i took them home via the tube..the boys included....it was a long a ride home, and i had to endure teasings in the form of "berapa stop nie lagi Dalie? ", "jauhnye!!", "eh, tadi kata 2-3 stop, kenapa cam lebih je? " ...grr, ok, ok, so i miscounted....cheh! i think the jokes will go on for quite some time....

got them settled, then cooked a dinner of fries, pizza and meehoon goreng..panicked kejap, cuz i was not expecting all those people..but it was ok...i think i didn't poisoned anyone..hehehhe...good thing the boys came along, they had to angkat all those bags...hehehe....anyhoo, they wouldn't dare to leave their friend's girlfriend with her heavy bags (and their precious dvds that they kirim-ed! ) kan....they left at about 11 p.m....then after chatting with Eileen, (my sis was long gone to la-La Land by then) ..i finally got some sleep....

i'm gonna stop now...i actually have a meeting tomorrow morning, can u bear??? its the holidays!!!! i shouted to the email...so, am gonna continue this as soon as possible...thanks for all the well-wishes on the tagboard..love u guys! btw, The OC...TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO. WATCH. NOW!
