Raya Reminiscence...

Dalam dingin subuh hatiku terusik
Kenang nasib diri di rantauan
Bergema takbir raya menitis air mata
Terbayang suasana permai desa

- Sudirman's "Dari Jauh Ku Pohon Maaf"-

One of my earliest memories of Raya, was when i was about 5, and we were still staying in the kampung house in Gombak...my mom had prepared some rendang, like she always does every year, and it was sitting, simmering in its glory, on the ancient fire-engine red coal stove we've always had....it was supposed to be the eve of Raya, but we weren't sure, and my mom was alternating between sitting in front of the tv, waiting for the official proclaimation, and outside, by the back door, attending to her rendang, worrying that it might spoil should Raya fall on the day after..so what happened was, when the Penyimpan Mohor Besar announced that Raya was going to fall on the next day, my mom give this loud whoop and jumped in the air! i was shocked! well, as shocked as i could be in my tender years...hehehe...

every year, my mom would make a trip to Singapore to visit her elder brother and his family...we would travel by train which took up a good 10 hours..we usually leave from KL on the 2.30 p.m. train, and by the time we reach Johor, it would be about 10.00 p.m....fill up custom forms, and had a general 1/2 hour wait, before everything was cleared for the entry to Singapore...i could still remember me, my mom and other siblings (if they came along as well) would be sprinting to the customs officer counter...well, if you don't hurry, then you would be in for a long queue..and the one thing my mom hates is waiting, especially after a 10-hour ordeal on a rocky 2nd-class carriage...with my brother asking at every station "brape station lagi, ma?", "lepas nie station ape ma?", "lepas tu station ape ma?", "pukul brape kita sampai ma?"...i'd be driven nuts! i would be the quiet one with a bagful of books to keep me company...and after surviving the custom officers, and those scary-looking Rottweilers, sniffing your suitcases for drugs, we would meet up with my uncle, who, being a custom officer himself, stays near the station, and we would be dragging our suitcases over railway tracks to get to his flat..

actually, the hidden agenda to my mom's yearly visit to Singapore, is to memborong curtains, and materials for our baju raya...so, imagine that? i've practically memorized the shopping complexes my mom would frequent, in her search for raya fineries...one thing that came out of this trips was my independence in choosing clothes..or, in other words, the fussiness that comes along with choosing my baju raya...my mom would be spending hours and hours in the shops, and she would always tell me to go and choose something for myself...so, i've always, always choosed my own baju kurung pattern, even at a young age...she'll come later to approve it, or point an alternative for me...the funny thing is, my sister didn't have this chance as we would have chosen something for her, for we would leave her at home with my dad, cuz my mom would have her hands full...nowadays, whenever we go out shopping for raya clothes, it seems natural to pick something up for my sister as well, regardless if she comes along or not! hehehe...we would have our musim...one year, i wouldn't have any problems in finding what to wear, the other year, she would have that problem...but, it helps in choosing, cuz she's a ruthless critic..."ee, soo ugly laa!!"..'so like makcik!"...while i would go "ee, aliaa nie suke sangat colour pale-pale laa!!"..hehehhe...i'm not missing that this year, cuz we already went raya shopping much earlier, and depleted my mom's bonus...whoops...hehehe...

my brother have it easy..every year, we would choose a colour scheme for him...but the most memorable one was when he wore this hot-pink baju melayu!! hahahaha....and those were his growing up years, so he wore that baju melayu till it was so short, it skimmed his calves! hehehe..i've always tried to get him to wear those teluk belanga type of baju, but he would always have his excuse..."macam gay la", and whatnot....cheh....this year, i heard that my sister is bugging him to get a baby blue baju melayu...and he always leaves it till the last minute to get his baju! a few years back, my aunt, who's the family's designated tailor, had the task of sewing his baju melayu, and our 2 cousins' (her sons)...kesian my aunt, nearly pitam-pitam! well, what do you expect after days of sewing billowy, silky materials, of huge proportions to accomodate the boys, who, according to my aunt's exact words "panjang-panjang semuanye!"..hehehe...my sis and i, would be giving her yearl headaches with our instructions for our baju raya...my sister is of delicate form, excellent for those tiny kebayas, and other trendy forms of raya fashions...while moi, of a chunkier version, would always be advised to stick to baju kurung...cheh...nak jugak...hehehe...but she's the best..all our baju would turn out beautifully, even though she always claimed that "aku dah nak masuk hospital dah, jahit baju engkorang nie tau!"...thanks Mak Engku!!

when we first moved to Subang, my siblings and i are all below the age of 10, so firecrakers and sparklers were part of Raya too...hehehe, i remembered one time, when we were playing with the sparklers, my brother and sister, and the rest of the neighbouring kids, had this brilliant idea of throwing the partially burnt sparklers into a pile of grass laying on the vacant lot in front of our house...well, they kept at it, till it caught fire, and the blaze got bigger! my mom and the other neighours were panicking already, each running into their home to fill up pails of water and trying to put the fire out...finally, it went out..and what were the kiddies doing while everyone was busy with the fire? they continued playing with the sparklers!!! sabar je laa...hhehehe.another funny incident was when we brought a bunch of firecrackers to my aunt's place in Bangi for a family buka puasa do..now, my dad always managed to procure some firecrackers, even though there were none to be found..apparently, he's asked his driver, then Uncle Muthu (who's scared of my dad, hehehe), to search for some in Kepong or somewhere...anyways, there was this type of firecracker that shoots colourful sparks, but you've gotta point it in the air, away from everyone...well, my cousin, has never played with this type of mercun before...and she light up the stick, and point it out, NOT up, and started asking "eh, macamane nak main nie?", with the sparks flying out of the sticks, and everyone jumping out of the way! heheheh....

my mom would always bake cookies, and as i got older we'd both be planning the menu...i don't bake, of course, so i mainly help around the kitchen...one year, we decided to try baking the oatmeal cookies for the first time, and my mom instructed me to watch the oven, while she goes to pick my brother up from his tuition class...unfortunately, i was too busy chatting on the phone, and at the same time she arrived home, i rushed to the oven, and found the cookies burnt! arrghhh...sabar jelaa...my mom would always bake chocolate chip cookies EVERY year, cuz it's everyone's favorite, and se would also bake kuih kacang, as that would be my brother's favorite..oh yeah, comel tak? my brother's favorite kuehs are the traditional ones...kuih bangkit (!!), kuih ketayap, and his ultimate, ultimate, ultimate favorite is...Karipap Sardin! do u know how hard it is to look for karipap sardin if u don't know where to look??!!! whenever we see any stalls at the Pasar Ramadhan sellig karipap sardin, we would buy some (ideal figure would be 10!), cuz we know that we might not come across it again...it got to the point where i would even think about buying some for him, even though its not the Ramadhan month, or i'm berpuluh-puluh kilometres away from him and won't even be seeing him till the weekend or something! last year, when we first moved into our new house in Shah Alam, my mom wanted to merasmikan the new oven by baking her choc chip cookies..alas, technology proved to be hindering as she was so used to her old oven and was not able to gauge for the new oven....our cookies turned out flat and lebar...tsk, tsk, tsk....and she has since avoided the oven...which now serves as a place where we put all the manuals to kitchen appliances....kesian mama..hehehe...

my grandfather passed away when i was 13, and from that year onwards, we have made visiting his grave a Raya affair...we used to go in the morning, sedekahkan Yassin, and then shoot off to my grandma's place...it also helps that his grave is at Bukit Kiara which is near to the exit to the nOrth-South highway...but for the past few years, we have been visiting his grave on the eve of raya, due to the crowd on first raya itself...i'm gonna miss that...and my dad used to go back to my grandma's place, on eve of raya for takbir...and then come back home again...well, my grandma's place was about 30-40 minutes away..then...now, we'll be lucky if we can get there in an hour's time...sometimes i think, is the traffic jam caused by those gamblers on their way up to Genting-Casino-Highlands who found that it's easier using the same route? well, if ur stuck in the next car to us in your cheap batik shirt, it's NOT!!!! its a good thing that we always get an earlier start from home, and by the time we reached my grandma's place, a majority of my cousins are still rubbing their eyes, and waiting in the queue for my grandma's solitary bathroom....

what i'm gonna miss is going beraya with my cousins...we'll be headed by the eldest cousin, Kak Nor, who would lead the congregation of abou 20 kids ranging from the age of 4 to 24, to the neighbouring houses...those makciks know what to expect after all these years..a herd of the Sidek cucus, walloping all the kuehs, pouring drinks, and making a lot of racket as if it's our grandma's place....but it has been great fun...it's not the kueh, or even the duit raya...well, for me, they've stopped giving me duit raya, even though i seem to have stopped growing..hehehe...one year, my kurang asam cousins, toddling after us, stuck their head through one door and asked "rumah nie ade kasi duit tak?"arrghh, sungguh memalukan.... it's the general closeness that we have as cousins, and that has been developed over the years as a result of many family gatherings...

i apologize for not being able to hold my annual open house ceebration...but i think my sister and my brother is planning for one..well, according to my brother, the "Government" hasnt approved the idea yet, but the "Kerajaan Persetuan" said, no problem..hehehe...i started holding open house celebrations for my friends since i was 15..before that, it was birthday parties...haa, the first open house i had saw The Great Nads attending..she didn't even know who i was! she was just tagging along my friend Ayesha..but we became friends, the next year when we were placed in the same class, and both of us became prefect probies....my open house became a yearly affair, and my friends would be asking, eh, when is your open houselaa? and my mom would always roll her eyes at my request of a tiny open house je (siap dengan list menu tu), and every year, she would inquire, berapa orang nie?? heheheh..my sister and brother demanded for their own open house too...so, we had the major one last year...which was fun!! thanks you guys, whoever reading this that attended.....

my head is heavy..i think i wrote too much..i doubt anyone would reach this line..anyways, those were my raya memories, what i could actually sumbat here...and now, that i'm away from friends, family, and familiarity, the melancholiness and the homesick ache is even more evident....wish i could be at home celebrating even for a day with mama, ayah, zaidi and aliaa...wish i could go beraya with my best buds Afti and Eileen, and their respective others (of course), wish i could get lost looking for houses to beraya at with my gorgeous friends Nona, Ferr, Elly and Nieza..wish i could go to ur open house Neri ...wish i could hang around the others during raya open houses and gossip my heart out with the rest....

but i guess that would all have to wait...

so, i'd like to take this opportunity (macam tak habis-habis type je lagi, heheehe) to wish you all SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI.....and MAAF ZAHIR BATIN....apologies all round for any wrongdoings, harsh words, or if you have ever felt bad caused by my words....i apologize from the bottom of my heart....

Thank you, thank you, thank you for reading if you have been a reader of my blog....and thanks soo much for leaving bits and bobs at the tagboard...you don't know how much it means to me....it's like a golden thread that links me back to home...have a great holiday, drive safely, and may you achieve all the blessings of Syawal....

After the Test....

Berlalulah sudah ramadan sebulan berpuasa
Tiba syawal kita rayakan dengan rasa gembira
Anak muda di rantauan semuanya pulang ke desa
Ibu dan ayah keriangan bersyukur tak terkira

- Anuar & Ellina's "Suasana Hari Raya"-

i've been busy downloading Raya songs onto my notebook...well, kalau tak dapat the duit raya, dapat lagu raya pun jadilaa kan...this morning, caught the Drama Raya on Era, and it nearly brought tears to my eyes when the adik in the drama said something along the lines of how their arwah ibu telah berpesan, walau jauh di mana sekalipun, raya mesti balik jumpe ayah....sheesh....i'm sentimental, what can i say? last year i shocked my family by bursting into tears after the meminta maaf session...malu je...after that, buat macholaa, kasi duit raya....

anyways, had a nice weekend...other than updating the look of my blog ( Thanks Masyoo, Afti and Nona for the compliments!!), bought an overcoat (finally) kat Walthamstow street market....couldn't get the bulu-bulu one, so had to settle for a plain black one, with a Matrix-ish look..hey, i was only going for the Dana-Scully-Fox-Mulder-swish-swish-overcoat look....nasib baik laa murah, burnt a smaller hole in my pocket....bought some groceries wit Ainor and Kak Iza...

hmmm, nampaknye kite nie takde rezeki nak berjumpa kan, Kak Idlan? Lin had other plans that involved a birthday party and her friends coming over, so had to abandon the idea of berbuka...takpela, next time maybe...nasib baik Ainor had an invitation from Kak Ema, whom she had met earlier, when she first arrived in London, to go berbuka at Nahar..so she dragged me along....after the groceries trip to Walthamstow, we rushed home, dumped our stuff, prayed, and rushed out again, taking the 38 to Tottenham Court Road...change for the number 7 to get to Paddington Station, but we arrived rather late, so told Kak Ema that we'll be meeting her at MARA house, where she's currently staying....

Kak Ema is doing her Phd in Psychology at Kings College and she's this super friendly and nice person...so bubbly, and easy to get along with....we trooped down to Nahar where i ordered the Nasi Goreng Special Nahar (have been wanting to order that since i saw Huda makan hari tu), and soya bean drink....borak-borak till about 7 p.m..then we left for home...tapinye, macam tak kenyang-kenyang kan? decided to get off at Oxford Street for some Ben & Jerry's belgium waffles and ice-cream....sebelum tu, masuk kluar Selfridges, Debenhams and a few other shops *mentally noting sizes and preferences, hehehe*....

on Sunday, the morning was spent fixing all the loose wires and cables dangling from the walls from Kak Iza's room to ours...yelaa, we've been using masking tape, laa cellophane tapelaa...a word of advice, if u ever come across a certain "Koopee"brand of cellophane tape, please stay away from it....macam clear plastic je with no sticky feeling at all!!! trust myself to go for some obscure "Koopee" brand, why can't i just stick to Loytape??!!! so sambil men-fix-ing the wires, our landlord came up to us and offered us the staple gun so we can staple the wires to the walls...well, why didn't u offer it to us earlier?! our wires are now nice and neat due to our artistic way of arranging it...tapi yang kelakarnye, the staple gun has this deafening and nerve-wrecking bang, so u have 2 girls, one holding the wire into place, the other stapling it with the gun, but both are cringing and looking away...macamana tu?

we decided to have Nasi Tomato and its lauk for berbuka, so me and Ainor lari pergi beli vinegar and cucumber kat convenience store kejap..before that, we dashed into B&Q, this hardware gudang to get more stapples for the gun..we finished the supply already! hehehe.....lepas refill the stapler, apa lagi, semuanye kitorang staple....our landlord gave us some lauk and rice for berbuka, so we had more than enough that day..alhamdulillah...

i had a test just now....hmm, tak taulaa how i did..biasela moi, last minute study...wanted to study on the bus even, but it was crowded and i had to stand..hahaha, padan muke....it was raining the whole day, and i bundled myself up in a fleece jacket and long parka...tengok dalam cermin, macam female Humpty Dumpty..*shudders*...

ooh, but good news! chatted with my extremely good looking classmate from India (New Delhi) and found out his name...surprise, surprise...it's Rahul!!! "Ayy, Rahul, mujhe doste karoge?" hehehe..he even admitted that his name is quite common, due to the onslaught of Bollywood movies...i was like, yeah! hehehe..comelnye....

got an email from Kak Yani tadi, iinviting me and my housemates to a little open house kat her sister's place in Edgeware..yayyy!!!! and my cousin told me that she's coming here too for raya! yaayyyy!!!! and got a nice email inquiring my wellbeing from Kak Hani kat Leicester...yayyy!!! terharunye, they cared....*sniff, sniff*.....

perut dah penuh dengan angin...it's a sign i'm way past my bedtime....macam babies pulak, ade angin-angin..hahaha...kena minum gripe water ke? *grin*...nights!!

- Fauziah Ahmad Daud's "Wajah Rahsia Hati"-

i dunno what came over me, but i became Kluang Man last night, trying to set my new layout out.....not much to shout about, just a new look...altho' i'll miss the blue background with dear old Storm's face on it, i feel that maybe, sometimes, i hang on too much to things that are not very significant....so, despite me missing it, it's time to move on..altho', sebenarnye, for the time being, if u click on the archive link at the bottom of the page, you'll actually find the ORIGINAL blogger version....hehehhehe....

this is just a test transmission..have a great weekend everyone :)

The Other Side Of THe Street

Put your head against my life
What do you hear
A million words just trying to make
The love song of the year

- Take That's "A Million Love Songs" -

i have surpassed myself...hehehe..i made Maggi Goreng yesterday...no, seriously, i fried/ cooked/ throw things into the wok Maggi Goreng...Nonz, nak challenge Elle Chico's fried meehoon..hehhehe...and i made mashed potatoes tadi! i know it doesn't come as a considerable achievement to some (might even be sneered by those of Chef Wan's proportions), but it's a big thing for me! i don't cook! well, not usually..and preparing a dish, undictated by mom, is pretty inconceivable to my mind before...reviews: ntah, diorang cakap sedap...hehehe (up, up, up...) nie yang kena try dengan my brother nie, King of Mamaks Frequenters...

anyway, been a little busy for the past few days...on Tuesday, woke up to Ainor jumping up and down with 2 grey parcels...yay, our network cables have arrived!!! i have jumped on the bandwagon by shopping online on ebay, where i purchased those cables from a certain entity called 'bobtailed'....don't ask...anyways, no more running over to Kak Iza's room with our notebooks! so, dengan pajamas and rumpled hair, we set about hooking it to the broadband hub....while Ainor got hers through merrily, i was having problems with mine...it wouldn't connect and the hub didn't light up when i hooked my cable to it...arrrgghhhh!!!! TENSI!!!!! sheesh...it must have been a faulty one they sent me..so, emailed "bobtailed"and requested for a new one...after an agonizing day, finally got a reply...cheh! apparently they got the orders mixed up, and sent me a network crosswork cable, instead of a patch cable....boleh tak? sabar je laa...and they told me to keep the one i have, cuz they wouldn't be needing it (and also as a compensation), and they'll send a new one over....now, what am i going to do with the 25 metres of cables i have? buat menyemak laci je...and i'm still waiting for the new one to arrive....nie sumer pasal Royal Mail mogoklaa...all the mails are messed up....my bank statement pun tak sampai lagi!! grr, grr....

i've gotten my student photocard in the mail last week, and now i can buy my bus passes at a much cheaper rate..finally! after my noon class on Monday, took the bus to Hackney Central to get my monthly bus pass..now i can get lost on my own leisure for a month! having a bus pass is such a blessing for me, cause i have the tendency to "melencong", not to mention, getting lost too...hehehe...bought some socks as well...

oh, i finally went to the Department of Trade & Industry on Victoria Street...took the 38 till the last stop, and walked down the road....found tons of material for my hot chocolate study, alhamdulillah..its a nice place, with friendly and helpful personnel, and really, really nice toilets! hehehe..the guy in charged even started my search for me...stayed for about an hour gathering data and printing them....when i walked out of the building, i found Book Bargains, a discount bookstore..yay! nasib baiklaa dah nak tutup, was already fingering a Jeffrey Archer..hehehe...

unfortunately, that wasn't the same case when i walked on the other side of the street yesterday...i usually crossed the road outside my uni, and walk along that side of the street till i reach my busstop...but yesterday, i decided to walk on the other side...discovered less attractive shops on this side...however, spied Traid, a shop that trades second-hand stuff....walked in, and walked out with a cheap Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes"...*sigh*...this has got to stop..as a matter of fact, was holding on to another also, Sushi For BEginners (Marian Keyes)...after reading Nonz's Under The Duvet, by her as well (and laughed my head off in the Komuter months back), i'm dying to read another novel by her too...

when i first came in to uni about a month back, most of my classmates had formed groups of their own, and i had to "menagih simpati" and ask around if they might need any extra member...i was lucky for one subject, when Tom and gang was short of one...for the other subject, i wasn't so lucky, so i had to do the coursework all by myself, which, i think, kinda serves me right, for making up my mind and entering so late..takpelaa, the tutor is very helpful, and i'm able to manage (so far...)..now, for another subject, i was left hanging with those 2 guys, Saltuk and Deepak...which was ok, cuz they're really nice and laidback, but also, got the job done (so far jugak...) well, it came as a surprise tadi masa menunggu for our lab session to start, a few other guys came up to us, asking to be a part of our group...we were ok about that, but we were curious..just a few week ago, nobody wanted to be our groupmate..today, banyak laa pulak..turns out, they were having problems with their current groupmates...2 guys, Anene and Asrar, had problems with their dominant female groupmembers, who did things their way without consulting the rest first....hehehe...cam hot stuff laa pulak....i guess, i wouldn't mind...as long as they put in the elbow grease as well...one of our new groupmate, Alfred, introduced himself to me, and asked for my name...and he told me "I'm in your group"....i replied,"No, no....you are in MY group now"...hehehe....gelak besar budak tu....

Totz, that song will remain one of my favourite Take That song...brings memories rushing to my mind...terdengar masa jalan2 kat market tadi....it showcases Gary BArlow's great vocals..if only he's less of a stocky fella and with more attitude, mesti boleh rival Robbie...hehheh...i sorang je minat die masa tu...btw, my prayers and good luck wishes are with you....tiny advicë: be prepared, keep a level head, jangan get emotional sangat (just in case), go easy on the makeup, dress nicely, perfume, lots of prayers, and a BIG smile! hehehhe...tiny advice jer....ALL THE BEST!!!

After a rainy Sunday...

When the moon hits your eye like a big-a pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore

Bells'll ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts'll play tippi-tippi-tay, tippi-tippi-tay
Like a gay tarantella

- Dean Martin's "That's Amore"-

on Friday morning, had a pleasant surprise..kak iza shook me wake, telling me that i have a phone call..i sprang up, grabbed the phone, and said groggily, hello..it was Lin! i called her the night before, but there was no answer..so, i thought i would call her the next day...somehow, she figured out that it was my number the night before, and rang me up! pandai nyeee.....heheheh...agreed to meet up next week for berbuka with Kak Idlan..it was nice to note that our first conversation, although it didn't last long, was on warm and friendly terms...can't wait to meet up with them next week!

on Saturday, Ainor was offered an extra ticket to watch The Rat Pack, a west end show on the Rat Pack trio, Frank Sinatra, Dean MArtin and Sammy Davis, Jr...i would have jumped at the chance to watch it, but there weren't any extra ticket...so, thought of just going over to Oxford Street to exchange something i got the week earlier...but since the show is at The Strand, near Covent Garden, i thought i would check the place out..so, both of us, took the tube right up to Covent Street, got ourselves lost, went in and out several stores (hehehe..), and finally found the Covent Garden market halls, and The Strand..long story short, manage to acquire myself a concession ticket at a student price, sitting at the dress circle area...to watch The Rat Pack..too...alone laa tapinye, but what the heck..hehehe...Oxford Street ke mana, Covent Garden ke mana....we were going to watch the matinee show at 4.30 p.m...so, we hung round the area, waiting for Huda (who had all those tickets in the first place) and her friends....4.00p.m came, she hasn't arrived yet..Ainor was contemplating getting coffee, just in case, so we'd have something to drink for berbuka (regardless of the muffins we packed in our bags)..was already jumping up and down in front of the theatre cuz it was really chilly...i just had on my light jacket, and no socks!...takpelaa...4.15 p.m rolls in, still no Huda....i was freezing my feet off already, they're numb and it hurts to jump around...we thought of queuing up for them, but we had to jump out of the queue TWICE cuz it was moving so fast, and they haven't arrived yet...loads of old timers were going in to the theatre, and we were like, takde budak2 ke nak tgk this show...4.30 p.m.....i was ready to bolt inside, but decided against it..kesian Ainor, tunggu sorang2...buka dengan muffin, practically suffing it into our throats....too cold and numb to care...we were commenting on the general public around us, macamane diorang tau hari nie sejuk??!!! tulaa, tak tengok the weather forecast this morning, sebab bangun lambat...hehehhe..

as soon as Huda arrived, i rushed in to my seating area...and sat between this huge guy, and this elderly man...as a matter of fact, my place was crowded with elderly people...i bet they used to watch THe Real Thing...the show was great...heard all the famous hits from the 3 of them...the music was great...Frank Sinatra was dashing and charming, lovely songs too, Fly Me To The Moon, New York, New York, I GOt You Under My Skin, and the unforgettable encore My Way ...Dean Martin was hilarious, i guess he was quite a drinker in his times, cuz that was how he was portrayed..once he trip over the stairs, managed to recover from the fall, by shielding his drink from spilling over..among the memorable songs were That's Amore, Sway, Me and My Shadow, Everybody Loves Somebody...Sammy Davis Jr wa a great dancer, lovely songs, and he tap dances too..( Bojangles, Bo, jangles, jangles...)..as a trio, they were hilarious and witty as well...the show was a made to look like one of their shows together, at THe Sands Hotel (A PLace In The Sun)...they had backup singers, The Berelli Sisters...one of them looked like Marilyn Monroe, the other like Rita Hayworth, yang lagi satu tu tak recognize laa pulak ...really made me wish that i lived in their era, and be able to catch one of their show...u can see the camarederie they shared, and in the programme book, there were quotes by Mr Sinatra himself, saying Sammy or Dean were the best friends he had ever had...there were also pictures of them together...however, during the intermission, some of the audience behind me were saying how the actor who played Frank didn't look like him, or the characteristics weren't the same...sheesh...guessed they were used to the real thing last time....

after the show was over, met Huda and her friends...Shima (buat medic at Kings College), Yusra (architecture at AA), and Amy..they invited us to go for dinner with them kat NAhar..so, we walked over to Piccadilly Circus to catch the bus to Paddington, where Nahar is...Covent Garden is alive at night..there was so many people milling about, lights, and sounds abundant...we arrived at Nahar, where we were joined by Ija and Emily (Amy's younger sister), who's doing her A-levels at Croydon (London suburbs), and is staying with, what she decribes, as the typical British host family (Would you like a cup of tea, Emily? *in a posh voice*).. had yummy Kuehtiow Goreng and Teh Tarik...i don't drink teh tarik in Malaysia, but kat sini, i'm gulping it down like its the tastiest thing! makan, borak2, till abot 10.30p.m....then we said goodbye...they're such nice and friendly people, and it was fun hanging out with them....insya-Allah, will see them again...diorang suruh buat open house, and i was like, open room bolehlaa...if u don't mind eating on the floor with our clohes hanging round you, that is!!

took the tube and wagn back home...kat Liverpool St Station, there was this big screen that flashes news summary...the temperature was also flashed...9 Degrees!! sheesh, patutlaa sejuk...Ainor, pulak dah developed a slight flu...we were planning to go to the Wembley MArket on Sunday, but if she's not feeling up to it, then might take a raincheck...this morning, got up (late..), and she wasn't feeling well....so, i went off to Oxford Street sorang2, to get my top exchanged, jalan2 sekejap, and went back home for berbuka, all on a rainy and dreary Sunday...

oh, btw, my presentation went ok, alhamdulillah...we were kinda lucky, cuz we got to go first...so, there i was rushing, and jumbling my words together for the introduction, cuz they were telling me earlier, mind ur time, mind ur time...in my locomotive speed, i could hear a few giggles..alaa, belasah je....we came up to 14 minutes only..hehehhe....but the questions were quite probing...nasib baik,si tukang jawab, Tom, is really confident...the rest of us, just nodded at whatever he said, regardless of whether we had actually discussed it..once, the lecturer, was like, oh, i supposed this is all included in ur budget...and all of u, went yeah, it is....padahal, it didn't even crossed our minds langsung...i bet, like me, they were all silently hoping that he wouldn't probe deeper on the budget..Tom was like, u guys left me standing there, in the line of fire! hhehe..

.i hung out between Zohor and Asar in the prayer room, and got acquainted with this classmate of mine, Aesha...i recognised her from class ( she has gorgeous eyes! blue, and kinda hazel-ish towards the middle..)...chatted with her for a while..her dad is Indian, and her mom is English...and she's been to Malaysia! hehehe...she told me that we have really trendy shoes, and she bought a few from Malaysia..well, naturally...it was a good thing i met her, cuz she straightened me on some of my assignments....i was going to Victoria, but after prayers, found out that its already to late, so decided to go home...but not before impromptu jumping on an unrecognised bus, getting off at one stop just to look into ONE shop, and get on the next bus home...

tomorrow, might actually go to Victoria ..insya-Allah..*bilalaa nak actually sampai tempat nie..*

Dewa Rediscovered...

Aku bisa membuatmu
Jatuh cinta kepadaku
Meski kau tak cinta kepadaku
Beri sedikit waktu
Biar cinta datang
Karena telah terbiasa

- Dewa's "Risalah Hati"-

Sad, no? exactly...

i found out my brother had loaded some Dewa songs on the Winamp...and i'm hooked..strangely (well, maybe not so strangely, but more pathetically..) it strikes a chord in me...

anyways, i met the first Malay in uni today! yay! was wondering if i'm the only one....i tried to open the door to the wudhu room just now, and discovered that it was stuck..i pulled and tugged...rupa2nye someone was inside..whoops...when she finally opened the door, i started apolozing.."sorry about that.."..suddenly tengok.."eh, melayu ye?" secara spontan telah terpacul dari mulutku ini...so berkenalan laa dalam bilik wudhu tu..hehehe..Kak Yani is doing her Masters in Education, from Terengganu (she taught there as well).currently staying with her sister and the siste's family..her sister is doing a fellowship at one of the hospital..and she is staying in Edgeware..exchanged numbers and email add...she's been here since February, and will be finishing in January..comel orangnye..suka giggle2..

yesterday, made a new friend in one of my class..Shweta, from India (Bombay/Mumbai to be exact)..she's so nice! i told her that i'm new, and she was concerned if i knew that we're required to do a presentation tomorrow..i nearly panicked...then realised, i am presenting tomorrow with my group..hehehe...yay..more gang..another guy, Asrar is from Pakistan, a Muslim, was asking about where i came from..told him Malaysia...then he became interested...apparently, his group is doing a study on exporting wine to Malaysia (!!), and he needs help with figuring out the cultural and religious background..told him no problem, but they might have it easier if they had picked Singapore...he shrugged..his groupmates yang nak...

this morning, woke up late but didn't realise it..cuz my alarm clock went cuckoo!! when i reached the class, i saw this classmate of mine peering in from inside...i asked her why didn't she go in...she said, she was late by 1 1/2 hour..i looked at my watch!!!! shit! me too!!!!..arrggghhhh..next time, tgk watch je...don't trust the alarm clock...ever!!

Nonz, have something to tell you...can't call...so will tell you here...remember Anak GAjah tu? the one who made Elle Chico's life soo miserable? your duet partner for Ghazal Untuk Rabiah and Doa Buat Kekasih? Yang kasi i pendant for my birthday? alaa, yang banyak terhutang budi dengan kite tu...? biggest monkey in the zoo? well, gather your thoughts girl..he sent me a message on Friendster...suruh add!!! dahlaa die panggil kita ape?? i tak ingatlaa...*shudders*...

shorter update today...wish me luck for tomorrow's presentation! :)

Baru kusadari …
Cintaku bertepuk sebelah tangan
Kau buat remuk seluruh hatiku …

Yap, yap, yap....

Bergema takbir di pagi raya
Menyambut menyambut Syawal bulan mulia
Uh! Bersyukur insan pada Yang Esa
Berhari raya kita semua

- 4U2C's "Syawal" -

* siapa ingat lagu tu...? aah, don't lie! i know u guys remember this song!! hehehe...as much as u remembered their weird dance step that involves a lot of sliding around...*

i'm updating in my uni's technology tower..hehehe, that's an overblown name for a tower (not very much like ITM's Menara..btw, having two siblings that go there, i too, adopted the Menara moniker, i don't actually know the real name of that building..but it's the tall, main one...on a hill..hence the name...nevermind) that houses the computer labs......anyways, this is the first time i'm blogging in uni...and it's probably the first time i stayed back after class..i usually rushed home after my classes (i so love staying at home)..but today, i have a group meeting at about 3.30 p.m., and my class ended at around 1.00p.m....so, instead of wasting all that time on the bus, might as well i lepak here right?

besides, one of the main reason i used to rush home, is to perform my solats..now that i have discovered the praying rooms ( and a decent wudhu place) there is no need for the rush..i guess i'm lucky...it's nice, altho' it is actually a beaten-up trailer, grouped with other trailers representing the male praying and wudhu room, and one trailer for the islamic library, within wire fences..kinda makes u feel like ur entering a ghetto playground hehehe...but the sisters are real nice..first day there, i just went without any tudung/telekong...and i had wanted to put on the jubah they have lying around, and i didn't know how to...one of the sister helped me put it on..malu je..hehheehe...

my group meeting today is with Tom and gang...we're gonna rehearse the presentation due this Friday..i was lucky they wanted me in this group cuz the other guy, Anene, bailed out...just hope that it won't go on till past 4.30 p.m...or i'll miss berbuka..hmm, what shall i have today?

yesterday, was this tiring day for me..woke up late, as a result of late night chatting with Dani (HI Dani!!) and JImmy from my former office..then rushed to get to South KEnsington Tube Station which is near the Natural HIstory Museum..unfortunately. the train journey took longer than i expected (had to change 2 times in the middle! grr..)..i arrived an hour later! Deepak and Saltuk had already conducted interviews, and was prepared to go home, so they can conjure up imaginary interviewees to finish up the questionnaires...i managed to get a nice young British lady, and a male student from China to answer my questions...what was really cute was i tried to ask this elderly couple, and i explained my situation..the old lady with the walking stick listened intently, then said sorry, but they're rushing for the train...then they toddled off together..it was nice of her to actually listen me out, even though she was in a hurry...

The Natural HIstory Museum looks gorgeous from outside, but i didn't get a chance to go in..insya-Allah, soon, cuz there's no entrance fee...Me, Saltuk and Deepak parted ways after that, they wanted to go back to uni, and i was going to meet up with Ainor for berbuka at Khan's near Bayswater...thought i had an hour to myself, so decided to go the Department of Trade & Industry near Victoria Station to check their information centre out...jalan punye jalan, saw the place, asked about the opening times, then i realised i haven't prayed yet..so, rushed to Goodge Street (World Muslim LEague)...arrived near 4.00 p.m....prayed, then rushed to meet Ainor..unfortunately, had only about 1/2 hour to berbuka, and i had to change tubes 3 times! sheesh, dahlaa tu..to change, is not a matter of hopping on to the next platform..kena naik balik, then go through winding corridors to get to another set of platforms..took the Northern line southbound ke Tottenham Court Road..pastu change to the Central Line ke Notting Hill Gate, then change to the Circle Line to Bayswater..satu train tu pulak lambat! grr..i wasn't sure if the route i chose was the quickest, but in the flurry of rushing that was the best that i could come up with...sampai je BAyswater, AInor tunggu kat Whiteleys shopping mall...i was practically runnning....tgh2 jalan nampak 2 girld in tudung sipping soft drinks...alamak dah berbuka! nasib baik AInor bought grapes, so berbukalaa makan grapes...so manis....yum..

had scrumptious dinner at Khan's....pastu jalan2 kat Bayswater..Ainor bought mousepad, mouse, stationeries...surveyed webcam, mixer, and ink cartridges..was tempted to buy Anne of Green GAbles (1 pound!)..tapi, cam, sabar-sabar dulu ye....hehehe..right now am in the middle of Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann...Sophie's World pun tak luak lagi....bile nak study nye nie???!!!

mlm tadi chatted with Afti on YM & MSN, where she provided me with the exclusive view of her pajama-ed, chubby self on her webcam...Aishah (her little sis) pun enter frame gak...so cute budak kecik tu...then chatted with my cousin, si Tina, who was a little homesick at that time...

maybe should go for Asr prayers earlier...tadi ade nampak sign on the door to the praying room "Sisters Circle meet at 3 "...wouldn't want to walk on them at that time...
toodles!

Antara sini dan sana...

Derusan ombak bersilih ke pantai
Disambut alunan nyiur melambai
Rembulan megah di atas mahligai
Tersenyum melihat kita berdua

- Sheila Majid'"Antara Anyir dan Jakarta"-

i'm updating in my baju sekolah..hehehe, haven't changed yet..it's 10.30.and i got home from class at about 9.00 p.m....my seminar was at 6.00 p.m., and i was soo super late! 45 minutes to be precise! selamba only masuk..hehehe..luckily bukan lecture...the lecturer for this module, Mr Dutta, is this charming looking middle aged man who has this tendency to shoot off from his mouth nasty remarks...*shudder* belum kena his wrath yet..but the guy who handles his seminars is this Portuguese guy, who i've tortured with all my inane questions...i was late, and i made him repeat whatever he could from class, then i asked him about my assignment, which consists of introducing Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate to Malaysia..i mean, orang lain had questions about Mini Cooper's entry into India, and changing the engine specs, or taxation in the European market, and all i have is questions about hot chocolate??!!! malunye....but, the key word here, which he is kind enough to impress on me, while putting on his jacket and looking as if he can't get away fast enough, is Justfication...so i have a month to justify my hot chocolate study...tak paham? mm, tak pelaa...

time for another lyrics interpretation! hehehe...today we'll be talking briefly on Urban Xchange's new song (feat VE & Ruffedge)...from what i comprende, is the lady is singing about her love who is far away from her, wondering when he'll be back, wondering if he still feels the same way about her, hopes that love still exist between them (ku harap cinta, tak kemana masih dihati, seperti diri ku ini..) then her friend told her to be patient, jangan melulu, fikiranmu yang tak menentu, he still feels the same way...then came the chorus where each professes that they are waiting and telling the other to wait...i like the part where the girl goes all defensive in her loneliness (bukan merajuk, bukan bersedih, cuma rindukan kekasih..)..then the guy said something about coming back to her with his promises...then his friend, reassured him that he will take care of the care of the girl (his pelita hati), while the guy is away...i've only gotten so far...but i think its such a sweet song..so fitting if i have someone who is "tunggu, tungguku, menanti..."...hahahah...

tomorrow, i have 2 missions..got to go to the Department of Trade Industry, near Victoria Station to gather data for my hot chocolate study ( i have a feeling u are gonna be hearing lots more on this hot chocolate study..)..then i gotta meet up with my 2 groupmates at the Natural History Museum, to conduct surveys on its visitors...my groupmate this time is Deepak from Chennai, India, and Saltuk, from Turkey...Saltuk nie kurang asam sikit...he wanted to just make up the survey..cheh! then, after that plan to Iftar (hehehe, afti..) at Khan's at Bayswater....yum! i can practically taste its butter chicken and garlic naan on my tongue right now....*slobber, slobber*

btw, did i mention i went to the Nottingham Games? hehehe..yes, i did..after only hearing about it all these while, i actually went...of course, the story would start the day before...Ainor, Kak Dzun and I went, while Kak Iza was away at Germany, visiting her husband...Kak Dzun had arranged for us to go with UCL (University College London)...but the bus was gonna leave at 5.00 a.m in order to reach Nottingham by 9.00a.m....so, we decided to sleepover at her friend's place...Alin is in her final year at UCL doing her electrical & electronic engineering degree, a year younger, and she was staying at one of UCL's halls near the uni at Euston...so, the day before, Kak Dzun left earlier, while Ainor waited for me to go to Euston on the 253...so, after packing ( we soo cannot travel light..semua nak bawak! one day trip je tu!), and sumbating sleeping bags in our bags, and packing the sandwich stuff...we head to Euston, last stop and waited for Kak Dzun at Euston Tube Station..it was a cool and windy night, so when Kak Dzun arrived to get us, we were like hurrying off...on the way to Alin's hall, Kak Dzun pointed out the British Library..hmm, remind me to go back and take a picture in front of its gates...heehehhe...then i saw King's Cross station and wanted to go and take a picture underneath the Platform 9 3/4 sign, but they were like, sabar ye dalie, setahun lagi kat sini....

sampai alin's room..gee, her hall is real nice..looks brand new, with ensuite facilities lagi...*sigh*...dumped our stuff, refresh, and sat to watch FRIENDS season 9, and Gilmore Girls Season 4...borak-borak, tengok2 dah near midnight..yikes! we're supposed to get up at 4 a.m....nak prepare sandwiches lagi...so, me and Ainor wriggled into our sleeping bags..me feeling like an ulat gonggok...sheesh, first timer laa katakan...gotta get used to this, camane nak gi Kelana Convoy nanti?! woke up around 4 a.m, rushed around getting ready and preparing sandwiches...then rushed off to UCL... streets was quiet, dim and very sejuk....sampai UCL, bus tak sampai lagi..so hung round..met up with some of the malay students...one of them is a Sri Amanian...ehehe....merata...2 years my junior...and one ex-Unitenian...familiar faces semuanye...got on the bus, and slept until we reach a rest area for a 10 minutes break...rushed of to ambik wudhu, then pakai gloves sebab nak beli coffee...hehehe...got to know the rest of them..me and Ainor had a different agenda..kitorang nak gi cari Nottingham lace! hehehe, so we ajak the girls along as well...prayed on the bus..then sambung tido until we reach Nottingham...

its a pretty and peaceful place..when we reach the uni, we were like, there's soo much empty space!!! leicester pun tak camni! got off the bus, but not before they gave us sticky tags with UCL logo on it and our name written below it..so, hari tu kitorang nie budak UCL laa...most of the Malaysian students were congregating near the Sports Center..almost instantly, saw familiar faces...Karina and Naz from Birm! there we were, hugging, jumping up and down, and squealing..hehehe..then Ariff (whom i met during the induction session for Birmingham students at Shangri La KL with my cousin) joined us...then saw my best friend's boyfriend, so went over for a little chat..the dude's playing volleyball "last minute diorang pilih i dalie!"...later on met this girl i met when i did my IELTS...she rushed at me, and i was like, eh familiar laa...IELTS laa! she said...heheehe,jumpa jugak...exchanged email adds...jumpa jugak the Leicester girls, all geared up for netball...jumpa jugak Za from Surrey...

after that we were basically hung around...wanted to watch the volleyball, tapi takde team nak sokong, so kurang semangat sikit...nak tengok snooker, tak boleh bising2, takde thrill laa...Alin was with us, while her boyfriend went off to his football game...Ainor met her neighbour, and started chatting...while this pakcik from Portsmouth took my number down cuz his wife is doing her Phd at my uni..yay! i was beginning to think i'm the only malaysian there...then the 4 of us, took the shuttle bus to the netball field...baru ade atmosphere sikit..it was kinda cold tho'....met more juniors from Sri Aman...Wan Munirah, who tegur me ( i have such warm spots for these ppl who tegur me first..hehehe)..then saw Azrina, fellow junior prefect..saw Juáa...and met Idz, who was capturing her playing netball on his viewcam...*Ferr, devoted boyfriend laa katakan...* wished good luck to those Leicester girls, hung round, makan sandwich....then decided to go watch snooker as Kak Dzun's friend is playing...tapinye, the shuttle bus won't be coming for another hour..so we decided to leg it..it was a good thing they provided us with the campus maps, as its not a compact campus, and sometimes, all u can see are trees and fields...kitorang pun buat route tersendiri..heehhe..nasib baik sampai jugak...

snooker was boring, to me at least...so , we took the shuttle bus again to watch Alin's boyfriend play football..on the way, Kak Dzun spotted the signboard for the Robin Hood castle or something...since the UCL bus would leave for London at 9.00 p.m., we thought we had time to go visit the castle, and go to town as well...sampai the football fields, it was so windy and sejuk...dah habis macho dah masa tu...lepak lagi...met Reza, from Birm..and saw a few ex-Unitenians also..sheesh, everywhere...just when we decided to ditch football ( bukan tengok pun, tak tau which team to sokong, eehhehe..) we came across a stall selling nasi tomato, nasi ayam, nasi lemak and the likes...suddenly je, semuanye lapar..so beli, and makan by the field...then took the shuttle bus back to the uni...

unfortunately, by then (it was about 3 p.m.), we got news that the bus will be eaving much earlier, at about 6.00 p.m....so, there goes our plans of going ronda-rondaing, lacce ke mana, Robin Hood ke mana...Kak Dzun met her friends Farid, Aji, Hidayah, and Madihah...Madihah is really nice..she's doing her masters at Liverpool, and she was eating and sharing around a bar of chocolate, and overheard me saying (not as soft as i intended tho')..ëe, coklat...later she gave me the rest of it! i was mortified! malunye!!! but she's real cute and nice..nanti nak visit die kat Liverpool laa....took tons of pictures, went for ramble around the uni...its huge! was actually looking for the signboard that says University of Nottingham, but couldn't find one that was authentic enough for photo taking...in the end, Ainor settled for the one with "Park at your own risk"below it...hheheheh...by the end of the day, we had covered much of its ground...siap discover shortcut lagi!

as we were waiting for the bus, me and Ainor stumbled on this round, gangsta-paradise-ish guy...nama die Bob *surprise, surprise*...he's doing his ACCA in London...he was munching Tesco's popcorn, and offered us some...we ended up finishing it! hehehe..it was soo good! its either that or we're hungry..again...exchange numbers, and told him that maybe we need help moving furnitures ke, we'll call him...btw, Nonz and Ferr, budak SDAR...boleh tak?

oh btw, the prayer room there (not sure laa for that day only ke..) is an open one...a unisex one...so, both men and women pray in the same room, at opposite end..well, that was a first for me...

sampai London around 10.00 p.m...watched Bone Collector and Simpsons (Halloween edition) on the way...kemas barang kat rumah Alin, took pictures, and finally took the 253 back home...so pancit...but it was a fun outing...it was nice meeting all those people...and it gives a certain feelin of pride to see so many Malay students overseas...

p/s: Kak Idlan, tak nampak pun hari tu...but i think i saw Ana..wasn't sure tho'....

Another long update...

Tunggu, tunggu ku menanti (menanti),
cinta ku kan segera kembali.
tunggu, tunggu sabarlah oh sayangku
ku kembali bersama janjiku
bukan merajuk, bukan bersedih, cuma rindukan kekasih
saat bahagia kan tiba untuk selamanya

- Urban Xchange's (feat. Ruffedge & VE) "Sabarlah Menanti"-

i soo suka the song by Urban Xchange, i'm listening to it 5 times in a row! right now, my stomach is almost to the point of bursting as a result of the spread we had for berbuka...we had kari daging, ayam goreng, telur bungkus to go with nasi minyak..for starters (or dessert) we had cekodok pisang and marks and spencers'coffee sponge roll..yum! hehehhe, don't think i'll be starving here..these girls are good cooks and if u had a look at our fridge, well, my mom would prolly pengsan as it is chock full of FOOD...i keep telling these people if there's an earthquake or we're forced to stay at home for long period of time, we won't go hungry for at least a month....

today, me and Ainor went to Walthamstow to go to the market..i've been craving for sausages and Ainor wanted to get some household stuff...so we took bus number 48 to its last stop and made our way to the Sunday market there...the thing is, we had to go through this shopping mall to get to the street market..that's where we went wrong...masuk almost all kedai!! arrghhh!!!! and in the end, bought something i shouldn't have..grrr...lama pulak tu kitorang kat dalam tu...tried on stuff, cheap tho', that's what makes it soo irresistable! finally, got out of the mall, tengok2, the market wasn't there! it was raining throughout the whole morning, so i guess, they didn't menjual today..rats! but we managed to find a halal butcher, where i got some sausages and minced beef, and we got some chicken legs...but not before going into Woolworths and buying those pick and mix chocs...yum! they have this counters with chocs and sweets there, and one container of about the size of a regular soft drink at mcds is about 1.99..apalagi...me and Ainor pun crammed as much as we could into the cup...Ainor has this systematic (and sly) way of arranging them so she could cram more! came home about 3.15 p.m., solat and helped them cook..yes, i cooked...and no, they're still alive, last time i checked...hehehe...

i've a group meeting tomorrow morning...we're supposed to come up with this marketing communication plan for this hotel as part of a case study and present it on friday..yikes! my part is basically the background of the case and the competitor's analysis, but i've yet to put them on paper..my groupmates consist of 3 chinese, Tom (the only guy), Wendy and Kelly, and a Japanese girl, Tomoe..they're really nice people, enthusiastic, and loud..well, Tom is tho'...our lecturer was going "oh, everytime i turn around, he'll be talking"...

on my first day at uni here, i missed the first class..entirely...nie sebab nak macho laa nie...i just hopped on the bus, and waited till i see the uni on my left...the thing is, the bus's route and my uni don't coincide...i din't even ask Safurah ( who went there too) the exact direction...i was actually late even before i got on the bus...but i honestly thought i could make it on time *gulllible*...nie bukan leicester laa!!! i was actually panicking when it began to turn to camden..i was like, i think my uni is before camden..so i decided to stop at the next bus stop that is near the tube station...at least, i know my uni is near the holloway road tube station, so once i get there, it won't be a problem...i was looking nonchalantly outside, trying to appear as if i'm going the right way, when i spotted the signboards with Central London on it...oh shit...dah jauh nie...i decided to hop off the next stop and ask around for the nearest tube station..tengok2, the next stop is the last stop for the bus! hahaaha, i would have to turun anyway...alhamdulillah, the bus stops at Euston tube station, so i hopped on the tube to get to Holloway Road...rushed to class, and discovered to my dismay, that it just ended!!! arrgghh...i was tersesat for nearly 2 hours! for the next few days, it took me quite a few bus rides to get myself familiarised with the routes..was late to class for a coupla times tho'...

but i'm allright now...have even gone exploring a little further...hmm, ade clarks factory outlet shop near my uni too! ehheeehe..*horns on head*..now, i have the guts to actually read a book on the bus, without worrying i might miss my stop..oh books, oh glorious books...i've been here for a little over than a month, and i have already acquired 8 books..itu tak campur all the ones i brought from home, and those impromptu appearances by those that my friends gave me at the airport...itu tak pergi all those car boot sales lagi, where all the books are rumoured to be under 1 pound! but i've gotten them all at a discount tho, kat charity shopslaa, discount bookstores laa, market laa...the only brand new one i bought is Jemima J, which i personally declare as one of my best buy..bet u can trace my reading habits by now *chick lit*...

on saturday, Kak Iza, Ainor and i went to Oxford Street for a bit of a look see...throngs of people and tourists, i tell ya..most have started christmas shopping, and there were lots of gifts and gift ideas displayed at the shops...i had to break away from them for prayers..took the tube to Goodge Street, where the World Muslim League is located..there's a surau there and a very decent wudhu place..alhamdulillah..thanks to Ainurul who brought us here in the first place! after prayers, as i was making my way back, lalu charity shop and got away with Sophie's World..sheesh... i started reading it in the tube...it was quite interesting, so i continued reading on the long journey up the escalator back to the streets..then suddenly this Brit guy (who looks like blond Jack Black) standing on the next escalator, said to his friend who was standing behind me "have u read Sophie's World?"and this guy behind me said yeah.so i turned to them laa.curious kan, they look like they only read MAxim and the likes...so the guy behind me told me yeah,he's read it..and the girl died..i was like, oh u could spare me the details...and the other guy said, ÿeah, she turn into a prostitute, had AIDS and died.."i was like YEAH, RIGHT!...turns out they haven't read it yet, memain je...cheh!..later Ainor bought Belgium Waffle at the Ben & Jerry's stall..yum! next time, it'll be their ice-cream for me...we break fast at one of the many halal fried chicken shops near our place, then went to tesco to get some groceries..

newsflash! have gotten in touch with another missing standard 6 friend of mine..(i just love tracking them down!)..Ismail Heyder, was one of our generous classmate, who, as i recall, donated beefburgers and cheeseburgers at one of our kiddy parties back then..he was also the Head Prefect for the afternoon session..hehehe, i used to remember how he and the assistant, Yuet Meng, would be at loggerheads over trifle issues...and whenever they call for a meeting, most of us would groan, and grumble, cuz we know it'll be another session of them arguing, while boring us to death...he left for Sri Cempaka after that, and last we heard, he went of to UK with his family...i stumbled upon his email add a few weeks back and emailed him, hoping that it IS him...thank god it is...so have started exchanging emails...he's studying for his medic degree in leicester..can u bear???!!!! i was there! cheh..so near yet so far...told him to keep in touch, and if he's going back to good old malaysia, i'll get those ppl back home to get in touch with him...hei, susah betul jadi diplomatic officer cum events organiser for my standard 6 friends nie...onwards to find more missing ones!

i think that's enough for a short read (!!) now..hehehe..will come back for more!
