A weekend in Birmingham

Pretty woman, walking down the street
Pretty woman, the kind I like to meet
Pretty woman
I don't believe you, you're not the truth
No one could look as good as you
Mercy

- Roy Orbison "Pretty Woman" OST Pretty Woman -

hie korang..i'm baackkk...

it was a blast of a weekend..well, it involves meeting malaysians and that would always be a blast to me for the next year, i bet! btw, remember last week when i was contemplating to go for the postgraduate reception ? well, i was on my way to the bookshop when i bumped into Stephen (my groupmate) and he asks me to come along..so i did...it was ok...we didn't really meet lotsa people altho' the place was swarming with students...we sat at a corner table, and borak2, then a few of our classmates joined us...Mohammad (another groupmate yang from Jordan tu) joined us bringing chips, nachos and nuts and dumped the whole lot on the table..and we munched and chatted away until the Vice-Chancellor came up to give a little speech...after that, we hung around for a bit, then i decided to leave earlier sebab nak cari surau which was supposedly in the same building..btw, it was a drink reception so there were free drinks...i saw this chinese girl and guy getting redder and redder in the face (and laughing hysterically) and commented to Stephen "look at the after effects of the free drinks"..he chuckled, and then Mohammad started telling him how alcohol is actually bad for you, and stuff...hehehe, kesian mamat tu..he had a glass of red and white wine, and mesti die nak lagi, but couldn't cuz we were both there...btw, i found the surau..at the end of a VERY long corridor...kalo gi petang2, memang sunyi..but it was nice...quite large, ade cushions for lying on...but nobody was there..so i practically ran home for Asar...

Friday morning saw me queuing for my swipe access card..this will enable us to access into buildings after 7 p.m....met another classmate, err alamak, lupe name die..but she's from Nanjing, China...after that, balik bilik, packed sikit barang dalam my trusty slingbag, then walked to the train station...it's about 15-20 minutes walk..nasib baik downhill...the thing is, i main belasah je...i've never taken the train..apatah lagi alone...and altho' i know my cousin si Tina would be waiting, i'm still a little apprehensive about the whole trip..i mean, what if i end up at liverpool or something?? takpe laa, i didn't know which platform to go on to, so pegi tanye kat info counter..got it sorted out, sebabnye my destination is the University station kat Birmingham, which is a station in the uni itself..so kena tukar train bile sampai Birmingham...the journey was about an hour, and i had Jeffrey Archer to accompany me...sikit lagi nak tertido sebab tengah comfortable, tapi takut termiss my stop, so had to keep myself awake..bile sampai je Birmingham New Street, turun train..then i saw this big-sized authoritative looking lady, and asked her where should i go...she told me to go to platform 10b..i pun belasah je, ikut sumer orang kluar, then look for the platform...nasib baik senang jumpe..and about 10 minutes after that, sampai University station and my cousin was already waiting..alhamdulillah, selamat sampai...hehehe, before kluar rumah, i smsed my dad asking them to doakan my safe journey...then both my parents were smsing me..my dad was inquiring about how i'm going, where i'm staying, bile nak balik...my mom pulak "why must you go??" heheheh....i knew she was gonna say that..then my dad pun sms balik "bila sampai nanti, sms mama, dia susah hati"...Yess Boss!!

my cousin's accomodation in Birm is soo lawa and soo baru! in fact, it is almost brand new...her room was ensuite and larger than the others and compared to mine..err, let's not compare..jealousnye i!!!! we spent the whole of Friday afternoon at the city centre, pusing-pusing, makan lunch, shopping sikit..sikit je!!! satu benda je! hheehhe...kat Birmingham, ade this MASSIVE shopping centre called the Bullring...it has practically all the shops and everything u want! shheeesh..rambang mata gile...nasib baik i don't have that much cash with me, kalo tidak, temptednye....helped Tina shopped round for her "necessities"...pastu balik rumah..we had dinner kat Adam's Place, this kebab shop kat Selly Oaks (where her accomodation's located)..oh btw, she introduced me to 2 of her MAlaysian friends...NAzira and KArina...undergraduates in econs and law, respectively...so we basically hung out together during the weekend...really, really nice people, made me feel so welcomed....baik sangat...

malam Friday tu, lepas balik from city, we stopped at Selly Oaks, sebab nak cari Sainsburys..Tina just got back from London the day before, so die langsung takde benda2 at her place...so, we walked uphill to mencari Sainsbusrys tu..penat giler...dahlaa sejuk..hmm, apparently, Birmingham lagi sejuk dari Leicester, ke just my perasaan..finally, after climbing the hill, jumpe laa jugak supermarket tu...bought groceries and dinner...and i bought a tub of Ben & Jerry's "Cookie Dough" sebab tak pernah makan B&J so cam jakun sikit...the thing is, we bought loads of stuff, pastu, tak ter-carry, boleh tak?? we were lugging really, really heavy stuff, dahlaa sejuk, and cam jauh laa pulak..and the best thing was, both of us had wanted to answer Nature's Call soo badly, we rushed back to her place as fast as we could..laughing all the way, stopping now and then sebab barang berat sangat...bile sampai bilik die (dahlaa her room is on the top floor and there weren't any elevator!!), rase cam nak pengsan!..hehehe, that was an experience allright..i remembered commenting to her, kalo kat Malaysia, bile dah lama sangat dalam air-conditioned building, boleh look forward to go out sebab kat luar panas...kat sini, duduk dalam pun sejuk, luar lagi sejuk, tak nak gi mana2! so malam tu borak sampai around 3a.m., made plans for the next day...cik kak tu banyak urusan, buat bank acct la, apply international student cardla, access internetlaa...

the next day, hampehnye..bangun lambat!! hehehe, cam malas sangat nak bangun...breakfast (i had a peach and Ben& Jerry's, boleh tak? sungguhnye nutritious...) pastu walked over to the IT centre..tapi malangnye tutup, so we took the train to the city...btw, nak compare LEicester uni ngan Birm, Birmingham uni is HUGE....Leicester cam a quarter of the uni...i could get lost in there, takpun..lepas setahun, sure slim giler, hehehe...so we went to town, she wanted to get pots and pans and utensils...and we did, so there we were clanking our way in town, buat muke selambe je...pusing-pusing jap...then made plans to meet Nazira and KArina for dinner kat Adam's PLace...then they hung out at Tina's room..we chatted till about 11 p.m...pastu, both of us hantar diorang balik...they stayed in a private home about 3 long blocks away...dahlaa sejuk and uphill...hujan pulak tu...bile sampai their house, rase cam tak nak balik je! hehehe, they offered us to sleepover, tempting but next timelaa..their house is really nice..3 bedrooms, and decorated in a very English way..rase cozy and homey sangat...apparently, the lady who owned the house is in a foster home or something, so anak die put it up for rent...we walked home, rather cepat2 sebab dah malam sangat, tapi nasib baik still ade orang..but then again, u can never be too careful...

Tina wanted to do her laundry, so we lug her clothes and notebook to the laundry room..jenuh jugak nak cari, sebab she hasn't been there....when we finally got there, load the machine, pastu pasang Pretty Woman on her notebook..*sigh* Richard Gere *drool*...she took up 2 washing machine...so i had this brilliant idea to combine both load into the dryer..kononnye "dryer tu besar, boleh amik semua nie...btw, it saves time"...hah, padan muke ...saves time nye!! we were there from about 2 a.m. till about 4.30 a.m.!!! lama giler dryer tu nak keringkan her clothes! we were like falling asleep there, notebook die pun dah run out of battery (eh, betul ke nie?)..so we amused ourselves with singing lagu2 Melayu lama..hehehe, hilarious! teringat lagu2 kodi zaman tok kadok dulu...dalam tengah nyanyi2 and trying to remember Aishah's hit song, the dryer finally stopped..thank god..she was ready to just cabut the plug....tengok2, alamak, baju tak kering sepenuhnye!!! sheesh....se we went to bed at 5 a.m. with clothes hanging all round her room...

the next day, yakni Sunday, they met us, and we had lunch kat rumah (courtesy of Chef Tina), yummy spaghetti...pastu pegi society fair in the uni...it was interesting..the Christian Union had this free salsa session, and my cousin commented on how they used that to attract people...met people from the Singapore Society...pastu gi town naik bas...pusing-pusing kat BUllring again...my cousin wanted to cari a small trolley to do her groceries with, nasib baik jumpe..alhamdulillah...penat gile cari trolley tu...my mom got one, and all i can remember is she bought it kat some market in London...Nazira and KArina pergi cari cyber cafe, so i accompanied my cousin shopping sikit...then all of us met up, gi The Works, where i (macam tak cukup lagi storybook kat bilik tu !!) telah membeli a book by Lou Gerstner Jr. , the former IBM CEO, lupe dah nama title buku tu...kononnye investment and research (hah!) nasib baik murah..well, relatively...pastu hujan, so we ran into Starbucks, minum and makan yummy brownie...pastu, went back...dah pancit actually...but we still needed to get some more groceries...so Nazira and Karina went home to masak Nasi Goreng, and we promised to come later to rasa...

dengan penuh bangganye kitorang panjat bukit tu dengan the new trolley, all set to do some gorcery shopping..tengok2, Sainsburys tutup!!! arrgghhhh!!! buat penat je!..ehhehe..so we walked down to the small Tesco kat Esso, and got just essentials...pastu jalan gi rumah Nazira And Karina, where they had already prepared Nasi Goreng dengan perencah Brahims (our new best friend), and that was my first nasi meal in UK after almost 2 weeks....lepak jap, then said goodbye cuz i was leaving the next day...then walked back...actually nak tengok cerite Sabrina on her notebook, but i was too tired to finish the movie...walaupun droolworthy HArrison Ford is acting..wa dah tak sanggup....zzzzz...

the next day, i got up early, mandi, packed, watched the remaining of Sabrina, while waiting for my cousin to wake up..i was in no rush sebab my class was at 4.30 p.m. later....Karina came over, and Tina slowly got up, stretched, called her friend...suddenly " I'm late!"..uh-oh..she's late and had to get ready in 5 minutes...so she left us, ran all the way to meet her friends, and told me to catch up with her later...i would tho', but i was carrying a big shopping bag...and cam funny la pulak, sebab in the uni, everyone had like slingbags and backpack...i sorang je ade shopping bag..besides, i wanted to go home and sleep...so i handed the key to KArina so she can meet up with Tina later, said goodbye...told her i'll be back bile i dah save enough to go shopping hehehe...then made my way to the train station...nasib baik dah hafal the route...bile sampai Birmingham NEw Street, kena tukar...haa, mase nie, ade confuse sikit...dengan penuh machonye, i walked up and down trying to locate the platform on which my train would be...as a result, i walked up and down for about 3-4 times kot...cheh...last2, resorted to asking the guy at the info counter....boarded the train, slept on the way, nasib baik recognise this one building in Leicester or else, i'd prolly miss my stop....walked home..this time lama sikit almost 1/2 an hour...sampai je bilik, letak barang..terus...zzzzz

petang tu, got ready to go to my first class ever...lepak kat luar lecture hall sebelum tu..then got to know a classmate of mine..Maurice from Colombia...did i get the spelling right? he told me he knows where Malaysia is, do i know where Colombia is? err, South America? hehehe, told him i'll look it up..he said that was pretty close..some people, go up to him and say " Colombia? Oh, Africa!!" hehehe..that was funny...he told me that i got a nice accent, bangga makcik...then he asked me what languages do we speak in Malaysia....i suke betul kalo orang tanye pasal MAlaysia nie, rase cam nak bagitau sumer...

the first class was ok...ade case study and video presentation sikit...after that, i rushed out sebab nak catch a bus that will be going to Asda in Oadby..unfortunately, dah terlambat..so gi library jap, check email, pastu cari this kebab van, bought vege burger, balik rumah, makan...then ingat nak study sikit...pastu Jeffrey Archer panggil..oopss...baca sampai tido...

pagi tadi notch up satu lagi achievement....cheese omelette! hehhehe..hey...dulu i buat kat rumah tak jadi laa....dahlaa the pan that i bought, alaa, yang murah tu...senget...u have to pegang the handle or else die berat sebelah...dah hitam dah the bottom of the pan...tengok barang dalam peti ais dah cam kosong, so kejap lagi nak gi supermarket...tadi buat laundry sikit....vacuum bilik, and now i'm in the com lab, ignoring all the other students standing round waiting to use the pc..ehhehe...aren't i mean...

sorry to tulis panjang2 and boring everyone...tough, my blog...besides, nanti i jadi insane kalo tak tulis sumernye..dah lapar laa...nak gi supermarket ke, nak cari jacket potato dulu? hmmm....

A-shopping we will go...

Spirits move me, every time I'm near you
Whirling like a cyclone in my mind
You're my life line, angel of my lifetime
Answer to all answer I can find

Note to Dani : oh btw people..DANI is my GORGEOUS ex-officemate who i spent 1 year plus bugging all day..now, she has joined the rank of readers of this blog..let's give her a warm welcome!! woooo!! yaayy!!! *enthusiastic applause* hehehehe...saje je Dani, buat gempak....haa, nak menjawab sms u pagi tadi...haaa, ape??? annual dinner..CANCELLED??!!! heheheh..nasib baik i dah takde...what happened? mesti si lion king tu mengamuk..tak boleh la die nak pakai wig besar lagi tahun nie, heheh...issh, tak baik betul..astaghfirullah..but seriously, what happened? tak cukup budget ke? lerr..what's gonna happen to all the salsa dancers?! oh no! heheehhe, nampaknye, wahiyu kena buat private performancelaa dalam dealing room tu..wish i could be there to see it! alaa...nak tgk concert akademi fantasia gak!!! uwaaa...tapekan? ehehhehe...takpun..u kena email i citer every bit and pieces of the concert tau...btw, dah tau ur baby's gender? jangan lupe pakaikan stokin elmo i tu, tau! cakap auntie dalie yg presentkan, ehheeh...btw, folks...Dani's expecting! so let's all wish her all the best !!! kaylaa Dani, next time, i glamerkan u lagi ok...btw, thanks for all the updates on the breakfast menu...terasa on my tongue kuih2 kak zarah tu..die ape kabar? kirim salam kat die k, tell her i miss her kuehs and nasi lemak...

hari nie is shopping-in-the-town-on-my-own day! ehehhe...no induction programme hari nie, except petang karang ade reception with the VC for all postgraduates..tak tau nak pegi ke tak, macam malas...well, actually, i didn't want to be the one in the corner, sipping her drink sorang2...so, tengoklaa camne...jumpe firman kat travel shop tadi, he's going tho'..tp, cam malas gile..and i think i need to get on with a little bit of reading..kena start dah, cuz i read my assignment questions, and i cam pening sekejap...heh? die nak ape nie??? uwaaa!!!! nak balikkk!!!! so, after this, kalo sempat, lari gi bookshop beli textbook jap...hehehe..belum beli lagi actually...heeii, macam tak nak blajar aje....isshh...btw, he called my room tadi but i wasn't around..nak tanye bile i nak goreng sayur (!!) gilo apo? orang yang makan goreng sayur i nie, orang yang forced and desperate je....

anyways, the reason i went to town this morning was because i wanted to look for a small pail, and maybe, a small basket for all my bathroom things...should have brought those from home, but lupelaa last minute...but i did bring a small pail, but that's not enough...so, the initial plan was to walk into town, cuz nak try this other route..unfortunately, terbangun lambat...after mandi and makan and kemas sikit, dah nak pukul 12..yikes! dahlaa kat uni ade this commercial fair, which means companies in town have set up booths to sorta advertise themselves, and i didn't wanna miss that...was actually debating whether to go into town first or to go to the fair, but thought, naah, i'll come later kot...

so i caught the bus to town, sebab dah lambat kan....tapi bile dah sampai town, ape lagi...linger sana, linger sini, tengok sana, tengok sini, pegang itu, pegang ini...i just can't help fingering the clothes hanging on the racks, they feel soo nice! geram sangat! wish i am on a holiday, hehehe...anyways, mula2 masuk wilkinson, this supermarket advertising low prices, everyday...ingatkan nak compare prices...it was ok, but i was smitten ngan this pajamas...comel sangat!!! bright red, and macam ala-ala ally mcbeal slalu pakai! but, sabar je laa....then i walked into those cheap, cheap stores, pun nak compare prices..sheesh, i'm turning into my dad...pastu, went up to Leicester Market, the ultimate destination sebenarnye...tapi couldn't found what i was looking for..nampaknye, kena gi laa balik those cheap shops...unfortunately, ini semua diselang-selikan dengan masuk kedai kasutlaa, Debenhams laa, kedai bags and accesories laa..arrghhh!!! i even had a soft cookie at Millie's Cookies, and i wasn't even THAT hungry! sheesh..tapi takpe, alasannye, nanti kempunan, eheheh...

finally, ended up in The Works, this discounted bookstore...*sigh* tempted GILERR..they had this 1 book for £1.99 or 3 for £4.99...i dah macam grab 3, tapi lepas almost 15 minutes considering, and picking up and putting them down, over and over agin...i just decided to get 2 ...takpelaa...kononnye, next week, dah start class, so busy kot, no time to go into town or to read story books *yeah, right!* so, all in all i went home with additional stuff that i didn't even plan to get: 2 books, 1 set of tupperwares (nasib baik murah), and my bathroom basket...pailnye entah ke mane...hai, nampaknye kena suruh my dad bawak laa when he comes over next month *insya-Allah*

got home, rushed for Zohor, then rushed to the hall where the booths for the commercial fair is located..tengok-tengok, lerrr, dah habis ke...? they were already sweepipng the floor...chet...so walked over to the travel shop, inquired about tickets to Birmingham, and finally bought them! so, folks, tomorrow, i'll be going to Birmingham to meet my cousin, si Tina...i baru tau sistem rail tickets here...my ticket is open, as long as i leave after half-past 9 tomorrow, and my return ticket is valid up to one month...so boleh balik whenever....oh, baru gue tahu...

and here i am, in my trusty com lab, again....gotta rush tho' sebab takut book shop tutup...

yeah, made the mistake last night..will not do it again, insya-Allah...dunno why i did it tho'...dahlaa tu, we got out at the library at 11 p.m....memang takde orang...oh btw, did i mention that next to the uni is this huge graveyard? its some memorial park..yeah, that's gonna help me sleep sound at night...but i will not do it again...i promise...

and i'm off to Birminghan tomorrow..take care ppl!

Induction

Oh, my life is changing everyday,
In every possible way.
And oh, my dreams, it's never quiet as it seems,
Never quiet as it seems.

- Cranberries' "Dreams" -

korang tau tak ape makne terharu? terharu is when i read all the comments on the tagboard...thanks you guys! ade jugak orang nak baca kemerapuanku ini...at least, boleh terasa like i never left...err, sorta...

hheheheh..actually, ade terasa nak gi toilet nie, but tahanlaa jap sebab nak update blog...takpe eh....hmm. what happened today..this morning there wasn't anything scheduled, so i took my time getting up, mandi, makan breakfast..pastu, get this...buat laundry! serious, no kidding, wa cakap lu...heheheh...ye laa, mane biasa buat laundry..setakat the delicates je tu oklaa, itupun mase kat uni (sheesh, i'm revealing EVERYTHING here, aren't i)...dulu pun masa kat Kajang, every weekend balik rumah dengan big bag cam nak balik sebulan! hehehe...spoilt brat, nak buat camne...so, pagi tadi, cam adventure gitu...kluar bilik ngan plastic bag filled with dirty clothes, a small bag of soap powder yang my mom last minute telah pack-kan (thanks ma!), dengan coins 2 pound and 50p, a self-help book to while the time away, and chewah, determination gitu...actually, kena patah balik the first time, sebab lupe bawak duit, boleh tak? *rolls eyes* dahlaa the laundry room is across the the area...lepas tu, ikut instructions laa....mula2 cam ok, pastu bile machine tu stop, i pun bukaklaa the lid...aiikk...assal air penuh je nie? hmm, musykil..masa kat rumah dulu, rasenye bukan camnie...thinking back, i tak ingat sgt pun kat rumah dulu camne, but i thought it would be kering...i pun angkat laa satu shirt, sniff...hmm, bau cam dah basuh...tapi, assall air die penuh lagi? gua pun belasah jelaa...tutup balik, tunggu kat tepi tu...nasib baik benda tu pusing balik...hehehe...bile dah finally habis, tengok dalam, baru laa nampak cam dah dibasuh oleh washing machine, instead of basuh tepi sungai....pastu gune dryer...wah, mesmerize habis laa tengok benda tu pusing-pusing..cam jakun tak? ye laa, kat rumah kan gune goold old sunshine...bau baju pun tak sunshiney dah...actually, i used the wrong dryer and i makan-ed my 50p (3 ringgit!!), pastu kena pinjam ngan this chinese girl yang also tengah buat kaundry...pastu kena lari balik bilik amik duit nak ganti duit die...sheesh...next time kena bawak wallet!

pastu, buat ironing....boleh tak??!!!! Afti and Eileen mesti amazed gile, sebabnye, dulu mase kat skolah, whenever ade function that requires a baju kurung after school hours, or anything that needs ironing, diorang tolong gosokkan...ehhehe...tapi tadi, kira lamalaa jugak nak menggosok...hahahah, nak dekat sejam kot! cheh...anyways, met another new housemate..Ann from Belgium, buat masters in law jugak...semalam bawak boyfriend die masuk kitchen...the boyfriend looks like that pelakon yg main watak Shaggy in Scooby Doo the movie..i hate that guy...ape ntah name nye....but the boyfie's ok...

this afternoon, ade induction dengan the rest of the class...we were put into groups of 6 that was supposed to last the whole year...so ade team-building exercises sikit....guess what? kalo mengikut surname, i'm top of the list! that's a first! i've never been the first! so, in the first grouplaa....my groupmates are Mohammad Zakaria from Jordan, Christy, Linda, Shirley and Stephen from China, and Telvinder, a local Brit from Leicester...so, kenalaa buat benda merapu like get a group name, logo, brand of group, that sorta thing....oh, before that, kena introduce ourselves to the group members..sheesh, macam BTN....pastu, ade competition sikit, and the winners will get prizes "of the emotional kind"..hehehe, mousepads...kitorang dapat second place so takdelaa...they're all nice,...Tel, is loud, but possibly the youngest one...Mohammad is cool looking, with shaven head..the chinese girls and guy are quiet tho'....but, can contribute when it comes to it... semalam made 2 new friends buat MSc Management..they share some classes with us, so jumpe laa diorang semalam...one is Mohammad (another one) from Turkey, who is also a tahfiz...he told me yesterday was Israk Mikraj, and told me to make Du'aa...another girl, Chin, from Taiwan....she's friendly, told me i could get to London on just 1 pound..biar benar! ehheehhe....btw, kat sini RAMAI GILERRR students from China....kiasu kiasi is abundant, i can tell you..no offense to anyone offended...sorry...

btw, semalam had my maggi with telur and sayur! ehhehe, but forgot to put serunding laa...kesian dalie, makan sorang-sorang heheheh...panas pulak tu, dahlaa orang lapar...our kettle wasn't working, so kena boil air dalam pot, baru tuang dalam botol...hmm, menu dinner hari nie ape? right now i'm actually craving for jacket potato (baked potato)..dunno why...tetibe je terasa...eh, bile start puasa? i'm not sure of the exact datelaa....update me :) thanks! malam tadi ingatkan nak tengok tv kat common room..dah siap je, turun tengok, ade football...patah balik ler jawabnye..don't get me wrong..i like football, i think..i prefer to watch it in front of me i guess, by the sidelines...ade atmosphere sikit..ehheheh...*alasan*

hmm, btw, CIK KIELI!!! i hope ur reading this....nak mintak contact number ainurul! please...thank you! i emailed her but she hasn't replied yet..takut die tak check je...hmm..my encounters kat sini, taklaa sehebat
cik kieli di london, but it's a way of keeping myself sane and updating my friends on what's going on...sorry dearies, i've stopped replying smses..sebabnye, i've forgotten that my parents will still be paying for the bill, so dah tak nak add on any other expenses...u guys are welcomed to still sms...please do! it's just that i berat sikit nak reply, altho' i'm dying to!!! last night i got 2 smses from afti and nona, and i composed the reply 2 KALI before deleting them, saying, takpelaa..nanti.....so, please, please keep on smsing me....best sangat bile dengar bunyi message alert tu..ehheheeh....

btw, cik nonz, u've gotta read Jemima Jones!!!! best giler!!!!!!!!! i cried while reading it...it was that good! or maybe i'm just too emotional lately..tapi kisah ape kan...gi beli...best, best!!!

hari nie cam takde ape2 citer sangat...hope u guys are not expecting sensational tales, cuz i can only offer my mundane daily doings, but i promise to throw in some humour for you, insya-Allah...

take care peeps!

** 9.10 p.m. **

just a tiny bit of update...just as i was leaving for home from updating my blog at the com lab in my building, i said bye to a classmate, Firman, a chinese Indonesian..then he asked me if i had any dinner..told him that i'm craving for jacket potato..he told me he wants to go Maryland, this chicken place in town..i was like, town, what, now? then he asked me to come along...so we went, walking to town..that was a first for me...jauh jugak..but borak2 tgk2 dah sampai...had dinner at MAryland, but not without getting a little bit lost first...al-maklumlaa..the shops closed early, so the roads are dark and sunyi...but there were many pubbers round...lepas makan, jalan kat town gak, then on the way back to my hall, he wanted to drop in at the library to check his email...i don't want to go back alone, sebab jalan cam sunyi sikit...so, here i am, updating a little at the library...tapi kat sini ramai orang lagi...nights people...

From LEicester, With Love...

Negaraku,
Tanah tumpahnya darahku...

- National Anthem, Malaysia -

Whoops, made a mistake there...i was in a com room, when a lecturer announced that there's a class in progress...i was too busy reading other things to update my blog..hehhehe, my bad..biaselaa...kepochi...always wants to know what's going on...so, rushed to the next available com room...3 floors up!! anyway, i have till about 12.45p.m so that's about an hour from now to upload segala-galanye yang terbuku di dalam minda selama almost 1 week...

phew...penat, penat...ok....HOW'S EVERYONE??????????? i'm missing u guys loads and loads!!! thanks Aptie for updating...that was sweet , altho' i know u copied that of ur website..u lazy bum!! hehehe...thanks dear! so, people, here i am at Uni of Leicester (told you i was gonna reveal it sooner or later!) i arrived on the 17th September (Tuesday) with my dad, got him settled at his hotel, which is about 15 minutes walk from my accomodations...then went on to my residence halls for the orientation programme...

i shall not bore you with details from the orientation programme (banyak yang i dah lupe pun!) hehehe...but i've made a few friends...Amanda from China (undergraduate) and Noq from Thailand (postgraduate), and Suhaimi from Brunei...on Saturday i moved to my permanent accomodation and now i'm housed with 9 other students, with a shower, 2 toilets and kitchen to share...my housemates , so far, are Taa, masters in genetics, also from Thailand (she claimes her name is to long to pronounce so asked me to call her that), Joyc, masters in law, an African American, and 3 other Chinese girls, i've forgotten their names...heheheh...whoops...the rest are probably coming in next week when term starts...

i've met 2 malaysians!! yayyyy!!!..i was so relieved that i started talking in MAlay straight away...one, Kak Ina, who's gonna do a Phd in Econs, here with her family and was teaching at KUSTEM...another is KAk Hani, also a lecturer at UITM, who's also doing the same programme...as a matter of fact, they got the same supervisor! KAk Hani also brought her family along, but her husband will also be studying....i met a Malaysian celup..hehehe..Kak Nadiah, who's a Malay, but grew up all her life in Saudi, who met her husband, also a Malay, but who also grew up in Saudi all his life!! i was like, what are the odds?! but she doesn't uunderstand Malay too well, and doesn't know which part of Terengganu she goes back to whenever she goes back to Malaysia..so kire celup laa tu...ehheheh...

hmm..LEicester...is not a big place...ok sized...the uni is about a mile from town..possible to walk all the way down to cuz its on a hill...i suppose, it's a great environment for studying *screws nose*...but when i got to town and saw people walking around, then i started to breathe easily...for me, nothing soothes the eyes as much as looking at the familiar shops...aaahhh, M & S, BHS, Gap, Woolworths, Boots, WHSmith....*shrugs* what can i say? retail therapy helps...but i don't shop...seriously, i don't!! for one thing, i'm too busy converting in my head...i tell you, i'm now an expert on Sifir 6...well, to be on the safe side of burning a huge hole of my parents' pockets, thats what i would do...plus the fact that i'm with my dad...he's kinda careful with spending...read: careful...sangat...now with my mom, if we're on holidays, hehehe..kire tutup mata sebelah laa bile shopping..but with my dad, hmm...we'll walk around, and around looking for the best prices, not exactly the best quality tho', until we find something that satisfies his budget..oh btw, did i mention that he spend weeks scouring the town of Mekah to get a pair of sunglasses?! tak lawa sangat pun!...so far, we've frequented those 1 pound shops (Poundland), those 89p or less shops...just so i can get my pots and pans and other benda2 remeh temeh...oh well, at least he didn't insist on getting me clothes from discount stores too...that would be too much...ehhehe...got stuff from the shopping list for the family back home to...

The uni itself is nice..most buildings are located really close to each other, so its only a short walk away...now, to compare ngan UNITEN, u need a vehicle to move around, i mean if ur not terribly athletic, like moi..but here...keter oun takleh masuk...and kat UNITEN, u macam ade gerbang pintu nak masuk, sama mcam UITM, UM, UKM...but here...the entrance gates are just roads with those palang where u swipe ur card..no big signboards or crests...just amodest one...hmm...ade 2 atm, a few cafeterias, bookshop, student union building, ade travel shop...rose bushes *sigh*...

hmm..ape lagi...my hall is near Safeways, a supermarket, and the first day of the orientation, we were brought there for a supermarket tour..hehehe...how cute...but it was funny tho, cuz u can see these students with blank looks on their faces, holding baskets with nothing in them..i was almost afraid to spent, but got myself some buns to have breakfast with and mineral water...oh, by the way, i think the amount of Coke that i had in the past week surpasses the yearly amount i normally consume...gile banyak!! whenever kluar with my dad je, gi makan kebab (staple food) and minum coke..! sheesh...but i've finally tasted the famed Vanilla Coke..yum! satu lagi dgn my dad nie..assal nampak kedai kebab and some Middle-East looking guy behind the counter je, assumes its halal...main belasah je...i was a bit was-was, but tawakal je laa....luckily there are a lot of halal kebab places, so now it's not a worry to me....semalam gi shopping ngan my dad at safeways so got the essential stuff...minyak, garam, gula, roti, cheese, orange juice, sayur sikit...macam masak je!! hehehehe...my mom packed 22, read 22, packets of Maggi in my luggage and 4 huge packets of serunding, Milo and Nestum...so adelaa sikit provision..i'm dying to cook Maggi, sebenarnye...sebabnye, the chinese girls in my house keeps on cooking noodles, and putting vege and meat...i pun nak buat gak!! cam sedap je kalo slurp, slurp maggi tu panas-panas...aaahh, lega noo....hehehehe..nantilaa try..the thing is, i haven't been eating dinner for the past week sebab lunch is usually a heavy affair of kebab and chips...ehehehe, jumpe my dad je, lapar...assal jumpe je, lapar...mesti my dad pelik and amused...gile makan banyak budak nie...

the weather here last week was ok, tak sejuk sangat...at one time it was really sunny and kinda panas...but today dah sejuk sikit...and yesterday, it rained, and rained...we were trapped in town with me and my pots clanking in plastic bags...tadi, masuk lecture hall for induction freezing giler! i thought i was the only one, so konon2 buat macho laa, ingatkan sumer org biase dgn the temperature...tapi, mase Q&a session, someone asked for the heater! ehhehe, my lecuterer pun cakap that he couldn't find the switch, and that it's freezing...heheheh, nasib baik...

to those who made it to the airport to send me off..THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart...sheesh, i dah start tumpah kat rumah when my mom walked in on me mase dinner and said "Baliklaa raya nanti, lama sangat you pergi.." and she cooked my favourite sambal ikan bilis...uwaaa!!! gua pun tambah laa lepas tu, tunjuk macho...my bag was soo super heavy that i was afraid my dad wouldn't be able to handle it..berat gile! yelaa, ngan maggi tu..ehhehe....i think it was about 50kg...kesian my dad, dahlaa hotel die takde lift! nasib baik 1 floor up je....my brother should have come along laa, and so should my mom and sis..oh what the heck, bring the whole kampung along too!

the first night was terrible...when i sat on my bed after a log day, i could hear the silence..the loudness of the silence...orang kata hening...well, memang HENINGGGGGG gile aaa...i was like, coughing, cuz i wanted to hear some noise...it was soo sad..i wanted to leave at one moment then decided...naah, it would be easier when my notebook comes, then i'm gonna listen to ERA. fm the whole day long..muahahahah...but my room now faces the main parking lot, and i could hear people coming and going, so i don't feel too lonely...

however, today my dad leaves for Malaysia, and there goes my final link to my family back home...sedih aa gak..he lepaked at my room till late last night, giving me all the last minute advices...he smsed me this morning telling me he's checking out, and that he'll see me in a months' time...heheheh...that's when he'll bring my notebook up...my cousin in Birmingham is enjoying herself in London with her other cousins...lucky her! nak gi gak! but this week i'll be busy with induction...tengoklaa, maybe go jenguk die kat Birm...

hmm..ape lagi...classes will start next monday..sheesh, macam tak belajar je bile tengok timetable die...got disillusioned for a while..sebab i was expecting, well, at least a week half filled with classes..tengok-tengok...sheesh...moday and tuesday je yang fixed...tu pun 2 jam...waaaa....what am i gonna do with all that free time??!!! i knowlaa, kena study, that's what ur hear for in the first place, dodo....but at one point, i seriously wished i had chosen to go to London instead...oh well, cari kerja laa...hari tu nampak ade vacancy kat town kad Clinton Cards, cam Memory Lane gitu...oh, btw, Leicester is supposed to be famous for this marketplace that has existed about 700 years back..tapinye, when i went there..i was like, heh? nie je?...petaling street and chowkit road is ssooooo much better!! and has better stufff! as a matter of fact, the first place the sprung to my mind when i first saw it was that it looked like Geylang in Singapore..even Geylang was better! oh well, but window shopping was like, heaven...window jelaa....

ok..tu jelaa kot...tak ingat lagi ape nak tulis..actually, should put a warning at the top of the page : Beware!! LoNG Entry Ahead! ehheheh..tapi takpelaa...bile u guys malas nak baca dah, can sambung tomorrow..i should reset the clock for my blog, but malaslaa..will do it later...skarang tgh cam lapar sikit...so, tak tau if sempat nak rush balik amik biscuit, or waste money beli sandwich..hmmm...oh, lupe nak bagitau, my accomodation is the nearest to uni...within 5-10 minutes away...but it's also the OLDEST and UGLIEST but CHEAPEST...so, the balance works for me, i guess...

toodle-loo folks...nanti i update lagi ye...cau ciinnnn caaauuuuu!!!

Reminisce
Guest writer: aFTi RuSLi :o)

A very good friend of mine wrote this poem... I remember the first time I read it was on our school tennis court. Before playing she asked me how to spell hypocrisy...ehehe...I gave her the wrong spelling.....she got it right eventually...whatever it is, I was really touched by this poem...it was everything we were going through.....it's what we're still going through... This friend of mine, she doesn't write like this anymore, but if she did...I'm sure it would be as amazing as this one... Dalie, this is for you...with love...:o)

The Weary Survivor

I do not belong here,

Yet, I stay,

I do not choose to be here,

Yet, I yield to go away,

This life is torturing my soul,

It's filled with uncertainty, hypocrisy,

Rivalry, eccentricity, inhumanity.....

To be among the best,

To do better than the rest,

I am so tired, so very tired,

Trying to survive endlessly,

With all these burdens upon me,

I long to be free,

To be free of all obligations,

To let my soul emerge,

But that is not to be,

As I hold up a mirage,

Reflecting the irony,

I weep unseen tears.....

I am bound by invisible handcuffs,

Cuffs which spells out destiny,

I remain,

A prisoner of this unjust world.....

Bouquets & Brickbats

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way

Sedih lah baca email you..now have to run to the toilet to wipe out the tears! Uwahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

tell me...why am i leaving again..? these people have been super-duper nice to me, right till the very end..and i threw it all away? i must be crazy *shakes heads*...i'm soo gonna miss them..it has been a blast and i seriously hope that the friendship forged will be a lasting one...

so, today is my last day here, on Planet MAlaysia...i'll be leaving tonight, and i'm not sure if i'll have the time to blog later on..hehhehe...actually, haven't finished packing..biaselaa, last minute...there's still things to get, more stuff to stuff in, people to call and meet...sheesh..dunno if i'll get it all done in time...btw, my cousin, alhamdulillah, has arrived safely in Birmingham and sent me a cryptic sms : "Don't forget ur selipar jepun" ...heh? Maaa, selipar tak beli lagiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh well...i hope she's settling in fine there...

last Friday nite was a delightful surprise for me..apparently my mom and the rest of the family, and co-organisers
Afti and Nona has organised a small gathering of my friends as a surprise farewell party for me...hmm, i thought it was kinda weird that Nona wanted to take me out for dinner that night and would pick me up from the komuter station, but told me that we'll be going back to my place first so i can shower and change..oklaa, i went along...she came with Mayan, and about halfway home, she suddenly turned around and told me we're going off to her friend's place first to change cuz her baju's smelly...so, ok..i went...hung around for quite a while...hmm, come to think of it, we didn't do much after she changed, just sat about talking...then when we finally sampai my house, i saw a bunch of cars outside...i was like, eh, why aa? then i recognized some of them...eh, those are my friends....hehehehe...so that was a surprise...and a delightful one too....my mom set up tables and chairs on the lawn, and ordered food and everything! i was surprised that she would do that..cuz it just seemed the kind of frivolous thing that she wouldn't..so, it was really sweet...apparently, they've been planning for quite some time..they even managed to get my friends from Standard 6!! i'm amazed!...

it was great...chatted and makan the night away...the ultimately best part was when my two best buds, Eileen and Afti, dedicated the song sang by JOrdan HIll, "Remember ME This Way"...and played the piano...sikit lagi nak tumpah ok! sheesh..but that was really sweet of them....the whole thing was soo incredibly sweet and i can't believe they went through the whole thing...just for me..heheehhe, up diri sikit...but it was truly wonderful...will never forget it guys *wipes tear away*..rey and zaheera ended up sleeping over..for the first time pulak tu! oh, btw, pictures can be found on her page...check it out....

thanks for coming to the others...notably, the people who would be reading this...Neri, MAsyoo and Ira...thanks for all the lovely gifts...u know u shouldn't have kan...but i'm gonna bring them along anyways, hehehe, biar berat bag...speaking of gifts, sheesh, if anyone from the office is reading..thank you, thank you for all those gifts...so terharu...nasib baik i brought along a paper bag, or else, i wouldn't know how to lug it all back home...the gorgeous ones are from the people in treasury..it was soo beautiful! made me feel grown up sikit, hehehe....special mention to Wahiyu who accompanied me, got us a cab, and went back to KLCC with half of my stuff with her..thanks girl!

on Saturday, we had a little doa selamat, consisting the merry bunch of my dad's siblings...it was nice...almost everyone came, the food was good, and it was kinda sad to see them leave, knowing i won't be able to hang round them anymore for a year!! waaaa!! but my cousins and i made plans to go for makan and movie just before i leave..

so...the next day...we troop off to Midvalley for a spot of makan and movie! hehhehe..had lunch at Chillis (yum!)...it was their first time..i hope they enjoyed it, i certainly did..then again, shove food, any kind of food into my trap, and i will be grinning from ear to ear the whole day...hmmm...not good for asking for food reviews...shucks...

we watched The Italian Job and it was a great movie!!! it was sooo cool!!!! go watch it now, now!!! was totally worth running the length and scaling the heights of Midvalley after a heavy lunch...hehehe, my cousins even forgot that they wanted to pee before the show..so engrossed we were....i think my somach even stopped digesting, cuz the burp came after the movie ended...hehehhe..ok, getting gross now..*wrinkles nose*.. mm..., yummy Edward Norton (even tho' he was the baddie, but totally yummy nonetheless, in a cute short guy kinda way) and really comel Mark Wahlberg...*sigh* i want....

so, on my last day...i would like to say, umm, dunno when i'll be blogging next, cuz my notebook will only be with me in a month's time...which really sucks big time....but i'll see what i can do...thanks for all the comments and best wishes....really appreciate it...just a tiny announcement...my guest writers are required to post entries..please...and check my emails too...and delete all junks...thank you!!!!!! ehhehehe....oh, and if anyone wants to be my guest writer too, be my guest! hahaaha..lame joke...anyways, just let Afti or Nona know...oh, by the way, you two are my guest writers ok...thanks!!!! ehheheh....

oh btw, Nons...i read this and what can i say...? *sniff, sniff* i can't believe that we went through all that...sheesh, will miss u guys too..nanti bile i balik, mesti korang dah jadi glamour girls habis..heheheh...i don't care....ur gonna sms me tomorrow..kisah ape....thanks girl... :)

a long post for what i hope to be a long day...i don't wanna miss a thing...

just in case this is my last post...wish me well aiight....

The last goodbye..

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

- ABBA's " Thank You For The Music' -

Today is my last day in the bank...i'm leaving on the 16th (Tuesday) insya-Allah, and the countdown starts tomorrow...well, actually i can't believe it's my last day..guess it hasn't sunk in just yet...altho' i've been answering other's queries as to when i'm leaving..

*getting all melancholy here*..as i walked the familiar trail from KLCC to my office building, i couldn't help reminiscing over the past year...i was offered this job simultaneously with offers from a giant telecommunication company and a securities company...i didn't know exactly why i didn't chose the others...when in fact the securities company and the telco is much nearer to where i live and offers a better pay..hehehe..i guess, it must have been my naive dream to work in the Golden Triangle in KL..haa, amik, padan muka...didn't realise it would be soo tiring ...at first, i went to bed early every night so i could wake up fresh the next day..*yeah, right*..fresh nye...but over time, hmm, i managed actually...

then there's also the conversation between me and my uni buddy, Ferr, who at first, wanted to work with a merchant bank...myself, on the other hand, didn't have the same desire...but i remembered telling her, if i were to work in a bank, i want to be where i will know the core operation of the bank, how everything works and where i can see things happening, and where i'll get first-hand information, not a credit-card center, or any call center...well, being in the Treasury division has all that and much, much more..it was fun ! despite all my rantings, i think i've enjoyed it...i would say that its one of the most interesting job that i have come across with...well, nothing in uni prepared me for all this...but i managed, survived, and pretty sure i emerge as a stronger person....err, i think, i hope...

but what makes all this worthwhile is the people in the bank...i have a weakness for nice people, namely those who acknowledges my presence..i actually have a low self-esteem, and it really boosts my system up whenever someone says hi in the lift, or at the corridors...well, i'm very grateful to say that i've been surrounded by such people for the past 1 year, 1 month, and 12 days...they've been super duper nice to me, and made me feel soo welcomed...

but most kudos, biggest bouquets would go to the people in the Dealing Room who are the best to have around during my first employment..my bosses, En Hamdan & Pn Noraiza for all the teachings, advices, for being great bosses in general..hehehe...En Hamdan for being one of the wittiest and coolest guy to work with...Pn Noraiza for being a great lady boss, who taught me patience (hehehe) and the art of being meticulous...they were great mentors!

The two greatest colleague i've had..Dani and Wahiyu, for without them, my working life would be decidedly dull!!.. thanks Dani, for layan-ing all my crap in the mornings, for patiently teaching me again, and again, AND again, and for being a great comapny, mentor and friend..heheheh....she's fun to be around with, and i'm sure gonna miss all the breakfast sessions, gossip sessions, and just generally, all the time i bugged her...am gonna miss listening to stories about her son, Amirul...and am gonna miss her next child! sheesh...takpe, takpe...i'll hunt her down when i come back nanti...hehehe...

Wahiyu came in January, and she was the other person i gossiped with...great fun, gorgeous girl, down to earth, generous and kepoh as hell! hehehe...thanks for all the makan session, the lifts to KLCC or KL Sentral, and for being a great gossip partner! ehehhe..well, with the messengers, it won't be pretty hard to keep in touch with these 2...

Kak Ros was my first mentor who is this really nice, motherly lady, who also, layan-ed my kerenahs and stories...*i think i talked too much laa*...she taught me the basics and that really helped me in understanding the operations for the first few month..too bad she's not around for my last week...

the rest, Muzanee, Chue and Dzarfan are great people, who've helped me in different ways..thanks guys! it has been a blast working with u people..and i definitely learned a lot! some, not even job-related...hehehehe...*wink*

i'm gonna miss the smells that greets me when i stepped into KLCC from its LRT station, the buttery croissants, the waffles, muffins and nasi lemak....i'm gonna miss dodging mad motorists who mows people down for breakfast...i'm gonna miss having breakfast with the rest of the staff..the paid ones and free ones, ehehhe...i'm gonna miss Kak Zaharah, whose one of the best cooks with razor-sharp tongue...i have managed to elude any cutting remarks from her tho', ehehhe...i'm gonna miss the voices of the brokers quoting their prices early in the morning, when all i wanna do is read all my emails...i'm gonna miss the hustle and bustle of dealing when it's busy , and the peaceful silence that follows when the market is slow..i'm gonna miss the anticipation and nervousness i've exprienced throughout the whole year as i performed my duties, for fear that something goes wrong or i miscalculated...i'm gonna miss having lunch in this area...the ikan bakar, the nasi ayam, the tow foo faa...i'm gonna miss sleeping in the surau, ehehhe..whoops, wrong function...ok, meeting up with the others in the surau...ooh, i'm gonna miss being called the "Money Lady" by the brokers! sheesh....generally, i'm gonna miss everything!!! there's just too many too mention...i guess, sooner or later, i'm gonna spill it here anyways, soo....

*sigh*..can't believe this day is here...

Waiting...

I've been waiting for a long time
For this moment to come
I'm destined
For anything...at all

- Green Day's "Waiting" -

i'm currently waiting for my friends at the office to take me out to lunch..was supposed to go out for dinner with them, but i had made plans with my Standard 6 friends to meet up at Gazebo tonight, so that plan was scratched...my colleagues from the office wants to take me out to Shangri-La for lunch, so, insya-Allah will prolly go there tomorrow...but tomorrow's also the farewell lunch for our CEO, so dunno how we're gonna make it...

alhamdulillah, murah laa pulak rezeki lunch this week, ehhehe...brought my bro's digicam this morning and took some pictures..gotta show my family what my desk actually looks like..i don't think they can fully get the picture...

i'm anticipating something this week..this girly and this girly should know what i mean..ehhehe....thanks you guys...but even tho' nothing materializes, thanks for thinking about it...muchos love and gracias...

oohh..i've developed a crush on a certain low-profile celeb..heheheh....gotta go and see him play before i leave!!!...hmm...will call HRC later..manelaa tau, got rezeki...i don't go goo-goo-gaa-gaa over celebs that easily actualy..well, not to the point of crazed fan kinda mode laa...but when it happens, i'll actually go out of my way to find out more, research on them and hunt them down...hehehe, sounds pretty scary huh? but it's fun! *looks around bewildered*hmm..macamane nak jumpe..? it's fun doing the research and guess work, and if ur predictions turns out right, u get the biggest rush, and the bonus is, u get to see the person! i know, i know..how childlike! heheheh, that's me...

reminded me of my Std 6 friend, Belinda...she works in a local bank's card centre, and one of her job is to trace any fraud...the way she enthusiastically illustrated her job, it sounded like she has found her dream job...she confessed that she really has fun with it, claims that it seems like a game, and to be able to detect any fraud, would be like winning a game...sometimes she stays waay past her working hours just to trace all the frauds! it's great how people finds such satisfaction with their jobs...turns them into a better person, i believe....definitely more productive, i must say...

*back from lunch*

uggh...so kenyang..thanks u guys! we had lunch at Societe in Lot 10, and i had the Penang Fried Koay Teow...it was the last lunch together with all of them, cuz two of them will be on holidays tomorrow onwards...fooled around in that prim little cafe a bit, took pictures of them..was fun! apparently, they planned this thing ever since Monday, and along the way, lotsa lunch-places choices were thrown in, ade yang merajuk pulak tak nak datang, in the end, everyone agreed and they didn't even tell me where we were heading! but it was sweet of them to do it, altho' i reckon a simple lunch at some gerais would be sufficient, it's the company that matters.. :) am soo gonna miss them...am gonna miss the breakfast session with them, lunches, gossip session, all the times we used to sit together at those functions, email war, the intimacy and the general chumminess (is there such a word?) of the gang....wel, that's what messengers and emails are for then! :)

The weekend that was

September pagi ini
September kita
September pagi ini
Ingin ku mengucap terima kasih Tuhan
Atas segala nikmat yang tlah Kau beri

- Ruth Sahanaya's (duet with Harvey Malaiholo) "September Pagi" -

it all started on Friday night, when i rushed over to my best bud, Eileen's, place with 2 light cheesecakes i bought from the bakery near my office...Eileen organised a farewell makan2 for her boyfriend who's leaving for Leeds Uni in a few day's time...then it was a food fiesta all the way, with me being oblivious to the fact that i', mengembanging!! aacckk! but the farewell thing was nice..met up with old friends from school, chatted the night away...what's funny was the party was intended for him, but most of our friends were there..and the racket was made by us! heheheh..the boys ate their dinner at a moderate volume, altho the food was polished off at a quicker rate..guess we girls were just too busy yapping to really MAKAN...but it was a nice spread, considering being a potluck affair..she made spaghetti, Afti contributed fried mee, another married friend displayed her culinary skill with fried meehoon sprinkled with strips of omellete (Form 3's KH project maa), there was roast chicken and bende lain yang i've forgotten...
was supposed to go see my uni friends at Sportsbarn but my family left my sister alone in the house for the night, so i had to do the big sister thingy and rushed home...budak kecik tu pulak requested for some Nescafe, and stayed awake till morning...

Saturday was freakily busy...woke up at about 7.15 a.m., rushed through breakfast with my bro and sis, and then rushed to Damansara Heights to my cousin's place for her wedding rehearsal...at about 11.30-12.00 p.m. i rushed back to my grandma's place in Rawang (balik kampung) for her kenduri pulak...the traffic was smooth, thank God...reached there at about 12.30p.m...hung round with my cousins, helped around wherever i could, had 2 humongous plates of rice with my grandma's fabulous rendang and udang masak tempoyak...i can't remember when was the last time i had 2 plates of rice in one go, but it was worth it *wipes drool of face*

stayed till about 2p.m....then drove off to my aunt's place in Gombak to collect my altered kain kebaya...sheesh..if i knew she was gonna alter it, i wouldn't have bothered dieting *yeah, right!* the week before! but it was all good....hehehe...malas wanna go to my cousin's place to get ready, so i stayed put, had a nap...bathe and went with another cousin to get our hair done..

finally arrived at the hall err..quite late actually..and started to usher ppl around..the thing is, they might be really important people with titles, so u can't actually go " This way, UNCLE" ...or "Jemputlaa AUNTIE"..sheesh...just smiled around a lot...the whole ceremony was beautiful and sweet..the video presentation of their akad was *sigh* so best...met many of my relatives and took tons, and tons of pictures...it was a relatively short ceremony actually, ended around 10.30 p.m....but we stayed back till about 12.30a.m....ooh, one of the best part was they totally debunked the bunga telur tradition and presented their guests with yummy cupcakes..mmm, much better, i think..well, judging by how the guests seemed to enjoy it and brought the extras home, it must have been a hit with them too....went to sleep later with too-much hair spray on head...

had a little reunion on Sunday with my friends from Standard 6..thanks to Anwar, Azura, Alia, Belinda, Emil, Alex, Fee Chin and Elena for coming! it was fun! catch up on stories, swapped nostalgic kiddy tales, had scrumptious lunch at Swensens, and actually made plans to meet up again sometime this week...at a cheaper mamak stall or sumthing..whoops, that reminds me, gotta sms them...hehehe...btw, quote of the day, from Alex: "Who's going to be umbrella-ing her?"..that got a big laugh from all of us...

and later, had tea with and her buddy, Mayan at Secret Recipe...the most perfect carrot slice to end a perfectly delightful weekend :)

Yesterday...

If the love that I got for you is gone
If the river I cried ain't that long
Then I'm wrong, yeah I'm wrong, this ain't a love song

- Bon Jovi’s “This Ain’t A Love Song” –

arrghh...update dulu! baru cari kerepek bawang!

hehehe..another weakness of mine, kerepek bawang...

yesterday, i took the day off from work to settle some personal matters....in the morning, went to UH to go for a check-up for my knee...err....almost a decade ago, i had this injury that involves a dislocation of my patella @ kepala lutut..had to wear a cast for about 2 months...and from then on, my life was never the same..*sigh* sooo dramatic..no laa..i just couldn't do anything strenous laa...that involves no running, or jogging, and most definitely, not kickboxing...sedihnye...oh well, that only leaves swimming..good thing i like swimming..i just don't like the way i stepped out to go the pool looking like a whale in a bathing suit...but i miss swimming..i used to go with my best buddies, Eileen and Afti to the pool at UM, or someone's club...hmm..come to think of it, all my kononnye athletic activities are done with them...but then again, they were school athletes...runninglaa, games laa..myself? just the one on the sidelines cheering them on...naah, i didn't mind...altho' mase sekolah dulu, if ur an athlete, pretty glamorous la jugak...

eh, deviated from the actual plotline..hehehe..anyways, it was just a checkup for my knee before i leave, and plus, i've been feeling some discomfort there...so, the doctor told me to come in again next Thursday with my x-rays, so he can write me a letter explaining my condition..waiting in UH is an agony..u have to come in by 7 to the registration area..even then, there's probably a long line waiting for a number..then, in my case, go to the orthopaedic surgery clinic, take another number, and wait...and since the doctors will be on their rounds, before attending clinic, u might have to wait until 12p.m. to be able to see them...gaah!! but yesterday, i managed to see my doctor at about 9.45 a.m...brought along my Order of the Phoenix, but ended up reading the Fortune magazine at the waiting area...oh, and yang paling membengangkan was, wait for 3 hours, see the doctor for about 5 minutes...sheesh..and my mom kena saman by UM authorities for parking at an illegal spot...being a veteran at UM, she just chuck the pink slip away..heheheh

then went home to pick my dad up to go to the bank to settle some matters…so, I walked around the PKNS building looking for a shop that sells buttons…I lose some buttons on some tops and need to replace them…was also looking for some religious books…then, my dad sent us back home, and he left for work…my mom and I drove to subang to run some errands..one of it was returning the kain of the kebaya to my cousin so that she can repair the zip I split…dammit! I really hope it wasn’t because of my massive width the zip splitted/splat/splakerdoodle…or else I’ll be standing tomorrow night at my cousin’s wedding and not eating dinner at all…*sigh*…

and the best part was, eating the briyani bukhara after all that doing…in the afternoon!!!!! I could just stab myself! I really can’t control myself anymore…any hint of any kind of food, would send me into some kinda frenzy!..i casually mentioned gulai last night, and my mom made some for dinner! And I had to eat it with rice laa kan!! Uggh…I. Have. No. Self. Control…..don’t like looking into the mirror nowadays…dumb, I know..but yeah…

had my medical checkup yesterday after the heavy lunch…all systems go..i’m healthy..need to lose abit of weight tho’ to lessen the pressure on my knees…the thing is, with my condition, I’m likely to develop athritis at an early age..so, I’ve gotta lessen the chances…sheesh..gotta lose weight, so my future husband can carry me around bile dah tua nanti…hehehehhehe….

To top of the day, took my sister shoe shopping last night at Pyramid for the aforesaid cousin’s wedding..lucky her..such slim feet…can fit into pretty, slim sandals and look gorgeous as well….i got myself a slingbag…hehehhe..image baru…got some pretzels too…

Then went home to sleep in front of the TV with my Mom and sis….something we do once in a while…whenever my mom mentioned something along the lines of “bestnye kalau tido sini..sejuk aje..” we’ll rush for the covers, and plonked ourselves there….

And woke up with a backache…

It all boils down to...

I’m feeling so good
I knew I would
been taking care of myself
like I should

- J. Lo 's "Feeling So Good" -

Just got back from opening a bank account with HSBC...i hope that it will make all my financial matters a little easier...but i was soo pissed yesterday with the personal finance customer rep...i went there yesterday, and after waiting for almost half an hour, i finally got to see one of them..so i told her i wanted to open a bank account..then she asked me for a reference letter from my employers..so i told her i've resigned, and serving my 2 months' notice, would a letter be valid? then she answered no...ok fine...told her i'm furthering my studies, and would an offer letter from the uni be sufficient...then she told me that she wants the letter to state i am already a student from this uni, studying whatever...so, i told her laa, that i haven't registered yet, how am i supposed to have that kinda reference....then she told me "oh, we don't encourage students to open an account" !!!!! what kinda statement is that! that's a close-ended statement by a customer care consultant! she didn't even offer a solution! at least, tell me something laa, soothe my frazzled nerves, at least sejuk laa hati nie sikit to terima that kinda statement...sheesh...and the best part was, when my number was called, i went straight to her and terus tell her i wanna open an account, and explain my predicament for about 2 minutes..and then, with this blank look, she asked me, is it your number?..arrghh! geramnye! i was soo pissed that i walked all the way to Lot 10...i know, i know...heh?? but i just kept on walking and walking and landed in the cool, air-conditioned mall...walked around for a bit and took the monorail back to my office..told my mom about it, and my mom sorted it out with the infoline..and today i finally managed to open the blarrdy account..PIN number pulak takleh tukar..oh well, next time then..i know, i know...mommy's girl..what can i say? *shrugs*

yes, ladies and gents..i hopped on the monorail yesterday..but for only one stop..just wanted to get the feel of riding it..hehehe...verdict? well, it could have been better..as a matter of fact, i regard the lrt as more superior than the monorail..or maybe that's just me being attached to another vehicle...the price of the tickets are RM 1 to any destination during this promotional month and will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.(if i'm not mistaken, correct me if i am..)..so am going to try and catch it later...have plans to go Swensens tonight with Nona and Sabbs...anyone wants to come along?? am gonna go taste the chocolate peanut buttercup milkshake that Sabb's been raving about...

got in touch with a few friends from Standard 6..hehehe...gonna get together for lunch this Sunday with those who can make it..anyone knows anyone from Darjah 6 Ros, SRK Subang Jaya 1992..please let them know?

speaking of friends, got a blast from the past yesterday...met this Form 3 tuition mate of mine at KL Sentral on my way home...she recognised me and came up to chat...and chat we did till the train drops her at her stop...i wasn't that close to her back then, cuz i thought she was kinda snobbish and a little reserved..me? i think i talked too much back then...besides, she's a real beauty cuz her mom's British ( i think) which adds to the sombong factor..or was that just the assumption from my low-self-esteemed persona?...anyways, when we started talking, it was as if we've been friends for ages! it was fun! i didn't know she was wacky as well...and she's soo nice! *shakes head in wonder* why didn't i think she was? silly me, silly me *knocks side of head*

arrghh..been alternating between the MSN messenger with her and annoyingly, her..annoying, because she pesters for replies..sheesh...enough dah kot...

And it's a Tuesday morning...

How am I supposed to leave you now
When you're looking like that
I can't believe what I just gave away
Now I can't take it back
I don't wanna get lost
I don't wanna live my life without you
How am I supposed to leave you now
When you're looking like that

- Westlife's "When You're Looking Like That" -

*yawn*..i think i've gained weight..more weight...more than the legal amount, i'm sure!! grr...arrgh, who cares?! and kinda sleepy, cuz was awake for about 1/2 hour after my usual bedtime..*shrug* what can i say? i'm mengada...hehehhe..why Westlife? i need a catchy, pop song ringing in my head to keep me from dozing off...hehehe, i have atrocious sense of music...sue me...hmm..maybe typing out an extra long entry might keep my head above the haze...

anyways, had a fun long weekend...on thursday night, my best buds and i went to our ex-schoolmate's doa selamat for her new baby..she got married last year, and followed her hubby to Sarawak, and the next thing i know, she's carrying a bouncing but obedient baby boy! so cute! and so tak naughty, and so manja...just pass him around, and he didn't even cringe!...met up with other ex-schoolmates, made the usual amount of unfeminine noises (nasib baik they seated us outside, i can just imagine the looks on those makciks faces...whoops..)...iy's funny how motherhood grows on you..well, it hasn't happen to me yet, and i doubt that the changes would come over me naturally, as it did to my friend...we did ask her how it was like, becoming a mother and all...and she said it was just a case of belasah je...hmm...

friday nights pulak was spent with herand a few other uni mates...we went karaoke-ing! it was fun! stayed there for 3 hours and sang our hearts out..needless to say, and embarassingly so, all the Akademi Fantasia songs were sang that night..hehehhe...and some...met my friend's new boyfriend..hmm...nuff said...and all that singing made us very hungry, so off to Hartamas for a late night snack of cheese naan and tandoori...yum! one of the best i've tasted..was supposed to meet up with a friend of my buddy, but he didn't turn up...oh, well..takde rezeki la tu...but i so want to meet him...hehehhe...perhaps, a new beginning for her? hehehe..jangan marah...

what did i do on Saturday? well, silly me, woke up late, wanted to open a bank account, went to Taipan only to discover that my bank was offline!! then pusing Taipan (on foot!) to locate an ATM that would want to dispense some cash for me, called up the bank i intend to bukak account with, only to find that it closes at 11.30 a.m....and it was already 12.00!!! grr...inefficient..i know..blame it on the late night, and lack of willpower to wake up early..hehehe....so spent the rest of the day with my Mom at Giant, get some groceries..then just hang round the house, watching my siblings get ready for Merdeka celebrations...my bro was going to a barbeque in Kg Pandan, and my sis was going for dinner with her friends at Chillis, Midvalley (yum *drool*)..me? i was content with going out to dinner with my parents nearby, and watch the Merdeka concerts on TV...going to KL or anywhere else on Merdeka eve is 'been there, done that" thing for me...i remembered almost getting suffocated and physically injured in the celebration a few years back, and ended up tired as hell..nope, don't want to repeat that again..call me kolot, old-fashioned, tak happening, boring or whatever...i treasure my peace and quiet, and the welfare of my feet...besides, i can still see te fireworks from my living room..oklah, the Shah Alam one was not a gempak as the ones at KLCC, but it was fireworks also, what...a few years back, my friends and i were almost directly underneath the ones at KLCC, but the amount of shouting and screeching by the audience could rival the booms and bangs of those fireworks...heh? nevermind, i'll leave it to the youngsters....

what did i do on Sunday? oh, yeah, went to my aunty-cum-tailor's place..tried on the outfit she made for me to wear to my cousin's wedding this weekend...acckk! i knew i've gained weight! i think i can only stand that night..don't think i'll be sitting down, or having any dinner..*sniff, sniff*...had scrumptious lunch of friend kuehtiow, assam pedas, kerabu pegaga, and my all-time favorite, ikan pekasam!! yumm! later that day, went of to Amy's place for a little celebration as it was her birthday...met Sabbsand the rest of the clan..had yummy food as well..gahh! and i wonder how i gain all those extra weight!

but yesterday was the best...my cousin Kak Bin got married! it was such a sweet ceremony..not too much fuss, but pleasantly sweet and endearingly beautiful at the same time...she was looking gorgeous, as usual, with all of us as her entourage...the akad was held at Masjid Wilayah, and so was the small jamuan...her hubby is soo comel! and her dad shed tears..aww....myself and my sis was too busy scouting for eligible bachelors to feel sentimental at all, hehehe...then we made our way to her aunty's place at Damansara Heights for some family photo session...it was a fun! met all the relatives i didn't even know that we were related to...hung out with cousins, namely, Tina (hi Tina!), Yati, Tini, Kak Lalla (who looks like Kelly Osbourne!), Nana, and Abg Asyraff...lovely day...only to be spoiled just a little by my short jaunt to Pyramid later in my obstinance to look for some stuff, despite my aching feet..padan muke...there wasn't any parking left, and had to search for one outside...walked round but couldn't find anything...and even if i did, you know how undecided i can be...and would most probably end up with...nothing...just like yesterday...*sigh*

so, that was my rounds with the necessary group of friends..who's next? :)
